Another thing you can check for...
On a lot of the fakes, not all, but some... the (R) under the "Licensed" on the bottom left of the back of the card should be entirely in the pink. On a lot of the fakes, it's half in pink and half on the white border.
Another note about the (C) and (R) logos and the words on the back, you should be able to read any/all of that from a foot or so away, on the fakes you'll probably have to squint..it should be very clear what it says.
springwood-My guess is the eyes on yours are closed. I can't think of a fake that doesn't have them closed. If you can find a bulls card from 86 that's real you'll see what I mean. There should be another opening of white (very small) in the end of the eyes. When I get my Jordan back on Wed I'll scan it and you can see.
Another note, as someone else posted, the blue around Jordan's name should be blue...not dark blue, not turquoise. (see scan)
You'll also notice (if you have a real 86 Fleer of anybody) that the Font's in the name and the Fleer logo are different. The fake will be a bit fuzzy where the edges of the letters meet the other colors. They will also have a more "rounded" appearance to the letters. Also, Jordan's jsy should be a deeper red, not the same color red that's on the border of the card.
Lastly, you can do a search in Beckett News on www.beckett.com and search for jordan counterfeit and there are 2 or 3 articles that usually come up.
Read about the Gretzky and Mantle fakes as well. It's always good to educate yourselves on these things.

if the blue shaded area is supposed to be the blue you described then why is this barkley, taken right off of fleer's website turquise like my k. willis? i think you are right about the little 'r' on the back left being in the colored part and if it hangs down too much in the white than that is a sure sign of one of the fakes.

Where on the Fleer site did you find that?
2 Things strike me as odd about that card, 1 the blue (but that could easily be the scanner, it's tough to tell the actual color from a scan) but the telltale sign of a fake is the dark orange turned down banner and that one looks to be the same color as the part that has Premier written in it. Maybe it's just the size of the scan.

bl_bassist: Finding an ungraded Jordan RC bargain may not be worth the risk. Ask yourself the reasons why someone selling a Jordan RC would not have their card graded:
1. It's fake.
2. The condition is not good.
3. They're too lazy/cheap to get it graded.
While there may be bargains on ebay in the 3rd category, I'm sure there are a ton more in categories #1 & #2. It's not worth the risk in my opinion. So I'd go for a graded RC and take the guess work out of it.
Just my 2 cents, of course.
