Well what I am saying is that because the passed few months month Blake Griffin is playing better then expected, his cards are showing a rise is sales right?
Ok, so.... Even if he keeps up his great play eventually the sale prices are going level out. Therefore value is better determined by trends over a long period of time(maybe several months) when making such a 'price guide'

But if his cards keep selling for such high prices over the next year, the guide will certainly reflect that

I wouldn't bet on that, those rare Jordan inserts have been selling above the book range for at least a couple of years now and Beckett has not done anything.

Agreed. A lot of people don't understand that Beckett prices are not some random arbitrary number that the company has assigned to a card and that everyone must obey. The prices are based on sales of the cards which, lets face it, comes mostly from Ebay and will continue to fluctuate based on performance, contraversy, and even death. Beckett should do a better job updating prices. The only problem with that would be that all of our older cards from the 90's (with a few exceptions) would drop to being worth as much as the paper they are printed on.

To add to this arguement. I'd like to see them update the pictures for each card. It would be great to have an accurate source of what the cards look like.

    ....and get a better server!

    no way

up to the min pricing is the stock market. i had opg but all they do is put the same beckett mag prices and upsate it every month. up to the min pricing would see fluctuations with every sale recorded. that is just a worthless sales pitch. it doesnt matter if someone is selling hot for two weeks or two months. the value of something is what u can get for it...period.
Beckett has 'Up to the minute' pricing on their website. Seems a little more accurate but not 100%.
Also just because a card is selling hot NOW doesnt mean thats the value. Value is determined over long periods of time.
If Griffin keeps selling like he is now for the next 6 months then his value will rise.

HOW to you check ebay prices??

I was wpndreing how one checks what specific cards have sold for. I've had people send me links to closed sales on EBAY to show me the price of a card but I would have liked to check other similar sales to make sure this person did not find a fluke random low bid, while others sold for more.

Basically, could someone explain to me how I could check what cards have sold for? I can only view live auctions. Please help. Maybe if more people knew how to do this they would not trade at BV...but if its the only thing one knows it is the safe way to trade

Beckett is the most worthless thing in this hobby - all it does is put 35% (my estimate of people that tell me they trade at BV) of collectors on a different page then the rest of us.

I've already had an encounter today - as I have a card that has had alot of interest, sells around $110, but only books $125 - so I've had 2 people tell me my asking price (which is below eBay) was insane because it is too close to book.

this is exactly what i though, but i guess there's a bunch of members here who don't see it that way apparently

it's really easy, you have to be logged into ebay, but say for instance you do a random search to see what's available at them moment, to the left of your screen there's a sidebar......scroll down until you see "completed listings" click and that's it

Unfortunatly beckett has "up to date" pricing via their online price guide. Website/forums is STILL 100% garbage, but supposdly they are updating it the last day of the month Jan. Guess we'll see, but yea big diff between BV and what happens on forums like ours and then Ebay.

I just picked up the latest bball beckett price guide while I was in b&n the other day. they had all the blake griffin waaay underpriced. Here is a prime example. This NT patch auto has a bv of 850. Here is a live ebay auction. It is over $2600.00. Beckett's prices are so far off. Everyhting either sells for 1/4 of the bv or 6x the bv. I thinks they should go only online pricing and spend more time updating prices. On that note, do we have any bv traders w/ some blake griffins for trade.

You also have to consider that these prices were submitted for printing probably two months ago, which at that time the NT set was just released and I remember the Griffin RCs were going for about $400-500 at that time. I was tracking NT RC prices for about 2 months. Those same RCs (I remember the patches) are resurfacing now and are going crazy.

I Aldo agree with a later comment that Beckett quality has gotten worse in the article perspective. There is hardly anything to read anymore.

First click on the advanced search button, and once you're there click the "completed listing" option. That will let you search for auctions that have ended. Hope this helps.
