I agree also but with the card companies coming out with all these inserts and crap. They have no room for articles. I think it sucks also. Going to every other month has also hurt them b/c they have to play catch up with all the new stuff that comes out.

Last issue, they listed Durant Chronology Stitches in Times at 50-100 while it sold for $500-$600 on eBay. I didn't get current issue yet since I'm not in US now.

Disappointing to see that it's not only hockey where Beckett has been losing its relevance. The same issues get talked about in the Hockey section pretty regularly. It's unfortunate that a former staple of the hobby has allowed its influence and role to be so greatly reduced.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Might be a business there for someone who feels they could do a better job ;)

Definitely agree with you on the articles. I would buy their magazine if it offered more and better articles than what is just basically a review on products/rookies and then the price guide. I stopped buying their magazine because 1) I don't need any pricing for Panini cards 2) There's nothing worthy to read in the magazine. It's too bad because I enjoyed the articles they use to put in the basketball beckett.

What's even funnier about Beckett is, in theory at least, and auction price isn't the highest someone is willing to pay for an item. Yet, BV still under-represents a number of cards. They should just implement some sort of formula based off eBay sales that accounts for end of listing time, quality of listing, condition of card, etc. But that would be way more work... so not likely.

Good idea. At least from my understanding most people are willing to pay 35-50% of actual "BV". On SCF and Hobbykings that's what I usually end up paying closer to the 35%, but if the player is HOT/PREMIUM ex: Durant, Blake Griffin then you can expect to pay 75-100%+ of the actual "BV".
Luckily there is almost 0 competition for my #1 PC Alonzo Mourning

That's just more evidence that Beckett is essentially worthless. You guys are having to adjust the number to reflect the actual market for a player/card. I just couldn't make myself use a system where it's open for such wide interpretation on what something "should" be worth. Beckett usually undersells the bigger name guys and oversells the lesser name guys.

Have you check out our SCF Inventory Manager? We are quickly filling up card sets with pictures to show what they look like... If you have any rare inserts we would really appreciate them loaded in to show other collectors.

One thing we have to remember though is not everyone sells and buys online like we do. There are people in the LCS every day willing to pay 80 percent beckett on stuff because that is the only place they can get it. A couple days ago a saw them sell Sammy Sosa GU cards for 8 bucks a piece... 20 Percent off beckett and the dude negotiated them down to 8 bucks from 10... The only sales many of us see are Ebay sales and on here but that wouldnt really make much of a price guide... case in point... I collect AJ Guyton... I have paid more for a couple cheat rookies of guyton in the last couple days than most people will pay for a star GU card.... My card has a book value of probably 50 cents... maybe not even that. I paid 5 dlvd for one of them. I paid 5 dlvd because I cannot find that card anywhere but how would it look to list a jordan in the same set for a quarter and the guyton for 5 bucks? Makes sense to me as you can find the jordan in 30 auctions on ebay right now but this was the first guyton i have seen in 2 years... There is just really no way to create a perfect guide but i honestly dont think beckett does that bad of a job considering the time delay and the amount of sources they are getting their information from.
