Bgt-It is a seat relic. He does have a relic card in the Triple threads with 3 other players(not what i'm after).I have heard the piece may or may not be a bat,but they cannot confirm if it was game used.Kind like those lovely Ruth and Mantle cards A&G put out.So i went with my $10 confirmed seat relic.
Pwaldo-The final card was the Leon Day Glod Glove card.
Thanks again guys.

Whyconfirm, hey bud.I watched all of your auctions in amazement.Your koufax also went for book i believe $150.Great haul i am sure it was hard to let them go.
As far as the Gibson,i did mention that in my last post to BGT.If they cannot confirm it was game used bat then i really didn't need to throw down $400 on it.Ask your buddy to take a good look on the back side of that card and what it states.
**** Beckett has the 2006 Triple Threads as a "Josh Gibson Model Bat".The other players listed on the card state "Bat"*****
To be honest i can't see them making many more of the older guys GU.Maybe in some high-end products. They concentrate to much on the next big thing.I am very confident this collections value will continue to hold it's own.Last edited by GUCD231; 01-18-2011 at 11:38 AM.

I will try to contact him and find out. It was hard getting rid of some of them. Most gu aren't expensive cards so it wasn't bad. I hated to get rid of the 02 tribute cards simply because they are beautiful cards.....But in the long run, the 100 or so auctions gave me about $4k. Prolly spent half that in buying autos.
At some point I made a choice to sell and only focus on autos..I don't know why.....Either way, I still prolly have about 100 gu cards from HOF'ers/stars simply cuz they wer auto/gu cards.
I had a feeling that doby was one of your last cards .lol..... there was alot of interest in my doby gu bat card when I sold. Durocher was my last before I sold...they werent too rare (one or two a month)on ebay but I always got tied up in things and actions went off w/out me bidding last minute...lol saw it sell for as low as 1.99 and as high as 45.00 lol got it for 8.00 finally (01 sp leg cuts)

Yeah,Topps stated there were only 2 Gibson model bats ever found from the 30's.They made a really nice Bat barrel out of one for Sterling.Topps never confirmed or implied that either bat was ever game used.I did a lot of research on the suject .To me the (wood) seat card is just as much a relic as his (wood) model bat cards since theres no proof it was game used.I did want to include him in the collection as was happy to find a cheaper relic card.
Leon Day was my last card to finish the set.At only 100 copies ever made it was my hardest find.I am very happy with it's condition as well.

Thanks so much.I made a very fair offer to a seller on Ebay.It was up for about 40 min with 1 bid.He decided to take it and ended the auction.I was really close once before,we had a deal and everything. The guy went and sold it to someone else off Ebay and apologized.I am much happier with this one.

Congratulations! Very Impressive! I am also working on a HOF GU & Auto collection although I really need to be better organized about it!
I haven't been too picky b/w pants/jsy/bat, etc...jersey/pants has always been a preference but I pick up what I can...as with autos I have some on balls, some are certs, some TTM/IP, some 8x10, some PSA slabbed stuff...
Do you happen to have a list of the HOF members that have GU stuff that you can share? I am always thinking to put one together but it hasn't been a priority...
Again, Congrats! Amazing Collection!

You had asked in your earlier post if other people were doing one and how close... I do bat and jersey sets from 1999-2005 or so, and I took a sec to see how many HOFers I have... I'm at 123! not too bad... now I think I am going to have to finish it off!!! thanks for the impetus to spend more money I don't have!
