I second the Duff's motion. If you're going to go for wings, that is the place. You're fairly close to one too in the Southtowns. The address is:
3090 Orchard Park Rd, Buffalo, NY 14224
It is also the nicest of the 3 Duff's in the area. If you are in the mood for something other than wings, Chef's downtown on Chicgao St. has great Italian food. And if you really feel like being a high roller, The Chop House has great steaks and is also downtown (Be aware though, a check for 4 of you will easily push into the $250-$300 range there...)
There are several other good bars in the nearby area. As Scott said, Pearl Street is only a block away or so, and definitely has anything you would need. A quick ride down the street is the chippewa/party district with lots of bars/clubs. If you're looking for a less party atmosphere and more laid back/college bar scene, try the Allen district or Elmwood. Both are not far away and I prefer those areas to Chippewa personally, but I'm not much of a club/bar hopper anyways...
If you are interested in shopping, by the airport is the Galleria mall, which is the largest mall in the area and has all of your typical shops and what not and some of your traditionally nicer restaurant chains (Melting pot, P.F. Changs, ect..)
And finally, if you decide you wanna look for some cards while in the area, I would highly recommend "The Card Store" on Union Rd. It too is very close to the airport and has the best prices around on wax. Also the ever popular Dave and Adam's has a few locations nearby as well.
Any other questions feel free to drop me a PM.

Overpriced?!?!
Scott - You need to come drinking in Canada sometime.... and see what real liquor taxes feel like :)
I assure you, as a Canadian tourist in Buffalo - the prices @ Anchor Bar make me feel like I got a great deal. (Though that's not to say there wouldn't be better deals elsewhere.)

Well look for us. We will be the fans either wearing LEAF JERSEYS and Luchidor Wrestling masks (If they are winning) or Paper bags ... (Most likely if they are losing).

Haha I have season tickets, but a friend is going.. The Leafs have definitely not played the Sabres well since the lockout, but maybe they are due? Also as far as pizza goes, I can't really think of a good deep dish place, however if you just want good pizza try Bocces, they have a few locations or la nova...although they are very expensive. Just Pizza also makes a great specialty pizza (There buffalo chicken finger pizza is the best pizza ever).
