The burning question: Game Used or Autographed?

I always hear people wanted GU and Autos, so I thought to ask the ultimate card collector's question: Which do you like better?

I would have to say that I like autographed cards more. I don't know what it is, but autos have this quality to them. Maybe it's the fact that autos are a whole, and a GU is just a portion of the jersey/bat/'tever, I don't know.

So I guess auto.

Hmm, I can't really pick. I only have 1 auto at the time, but it is a little more impressive than a small chunk of something that was used in a game. I do like the concept of game-used cards though, kinda cool knowing you have a little piece of something your favorite player has worn, kinda creepy at the same time (kidding!).

I guess if I had to pick I'd say an autograph, because an auto is just what it is, a GU can be multiple (and sometimes stupid...) things. Like all the floor, goalpost, stadium seats and isn't there one that gives a chunk of end zone marker?

pre-2001: Game Used
2001-now: Auto

When GU weren't 5 per pack they were cool but now they flood the market. I still like them but they aren't as cool to have... it's just like having a base card now. Autos are always cool as they are more personal. The player had to take time and go somewhere to sign the cards/stickers... all they have to do with a jersey is give it to their agent to sell to the companies.

Sadly they've managed to make auto's commons

I also dislike the tiny swatch of white g/u which = like 2,500 per Jsy. Those Rc photo shoot shirts, et.al will last for a players entire career, if he/she plays for 15-20 years :)

Soooo, For me it's a Toss-Up......
I like Cut sigs of players who can't sign, and some other hand #'d autos, or buybacks on original cards.
I'd also take a multi-color patch, or bat/shoe card of someone like Ruth in a second.



Just give me my Rc's...lol SPa or Spx.... well Contenders & Finest are alright, ah fergetit I'm just a card-a-holic :)

Well Autos in my opinion are better. But multi colored patch cards are nice too

Autograph gets my vote. The signature is created directly from the person himself and can only be reproduced as long as that person is alive.

About those "GU" cards - owning a half inch square of the Mona Lisa just isn't the same as owning the whole thing. The beauty and context of the item is lost when it is cut up.

I think autos worth more. But i have to say for some reason i like GU's better.
