if I recall correctly echecks occur when people don't have credit card backup or enough money in their account, the money is pulled from the bank which as everyone else said takes 3-5 business days. amazingly I'd say 95% of echecks I receive are for $5 or less which frustrates the crap out of me. there's no way to stop accepting echecks, unfortunately, short of telling people you don't accept them.
