Screwed on Ebay
Found a good deal on some boxes of SPx on ebay and I bought them, then after talking with the seller he said he was getting some more in so I bumped it up to a full case of SPx. After this things seemed to go a bit south. First his "shipment" didn't arrive the beginning of the week when the product was released and he said it would be there Friday. Friday rolls around and he said because of the "storm" his tracking info said Monday. Monday comes and you guessed it, says he will get it Tuesday and ship it. This was the last I heard from the seller so I opened up a case with PayPal which he hasn't responded to by the deadline.
My only issue right now is I won't get all my money back. When it was charged in USD credit card companies add $0.03 above the current exchange rates. When the refund is issued they will give me the current exchange rate minus $0.03 per dollar. So I will be losing roughly 6% on this...I will be calling my credit card company to try and get everything back.
Total sent - $1100US
Also the user just received 10 other negatives from others getting screwed in this deal. The user had 100% feedback until this point but looks to have taken atleast $4000 from people.
Anyways just wanted to warn everyone and maybe get a big of advice.

Being as this person is located in NY and I am down in Niagara Falls just about each week I am considering stopping by the above address. What would you all recommend doing or if you have any advice I would appreciate it. Should I contact the local police?Last edited by flemingc04; 02-21-2011 at 11:13 AM. Never buy boxes on eBay, your just asking to be screwed. I wouldn't confront him face to face though. You don't know what kind if person he is, he could violent for all you know. I would leave it in Paypals hands

Remove the info of the person. It's against rules to call somebody out like this. PM the info to those who request it.
I'm very sorry to hear this. It's excusable for anybody to do something like this. I also wouldn't recommend you visiting his home. You don't know what the person is like behind the computer screen, and could potentially be very dangerous.
I hope everything works out for you. Hopefully paypal and ebay will come through for you.

My best advice would be to never stop by someones address to sort some situation from eBay out especially if you never met them, if things went "south" on a online conversation, you'd still be physically safe, but if things went south if you'd meet face to face, never no what's gonna happen. Give it till the end of the week to arrive, if not,let eBay handle it

Yeah i'm starting to feel like the savings aren't worth the risk. It was about $240 less than the best price I could find so I was a bit too excited when I found it.
What rules? If it's against the site rules I will leave it to the mods to remove it. I don't want this to happen to anyone else.
I am pretty sure I will get a refund back to the card but i'll be losing the 6% which pisses me off
The case was opened on the 9th & 10th and PayPal said it would give the seller until the 20th to respond. No response and seeing the 10 other ebayers who posted negative for the same or similar auctions this week pretty much gives me on hope of actually getting the product.

Hope everything works out for you, if you do anything look into filing a police report, let them go to his address and deal with him.

Yeah i'm thinking this would be the best idea, just not sure what it would require being as I live in Canada. Should I call the local police and say "this person scammed me on ebay"?

YES! I had someone use my social security number and ran up a $900 bill and never paid it. Then they tried to come after me! I went to my local police station and they filed a police report. Then I sent a copy of that to the collection company. They said they would never bother me again! And they never have!
SO YES! File a police report for your credit card company! They may need it at some point and its a way to protect yourself. Also keep all emails/info ebay and paypal give you. Your credit card company is who I would be worried about. SCREW THE IDOIT WHO RIPPED YOU OFF! It may be a felony because of the amount he screwed people over for and that means PRISON! In Michigan anything over $250 stolen is a felony. I don't know how NY works. But I don't suggest confronting anyone. Let the legal parties handle it and learn your lesson! I hope things work out for you, Brad.

Someone could have hacked the person's account and defrauded people out of their money. It isn't right to post his info. he might not even be aware of the situation. Do a chargeback on your credit card and they will give you the money back. Also, remember, if its too good to be true it usually is.
