Why is the WWE surprised that more people haven't been buying the network? The low end number would be those in the US who buy PPVs while the max would be the people watching Raw each week. You obviously weren't going to get everyone who watches free WWE TV to buy the network so why did they so overestimate who was going to sign up? You can keep plugging the network but if you haven't bought it yet you aren't going to buy it because they mention it is $9.99 over a hundred times.

I think it's because they assumed people would JUMP @ the idea of paying $9.99 a month for a PPV versus paying the standard $44.95 to their local cable provider or $54.95 for the HD version. Plus, they would be able to watch past PPVs from WWWF/WWF/WWE, NWA/WCW, ECW, AWA etc. etc. Plus additional documentary type programs.

It is a great deal but non wrestling fans wouldn't care if it was 99 cents a month. Plus you have a whole generation of fans who don't even know what those other federations are. I mean WCW went out of business in like 2001 or something and that was sadly 13 years ago and that's the newest of those.

It seems as if the WWE may be facing some backlash from their contracted talent after the shocking release of Alberto Del Rio last week.
Del Rio was cut from the WWE last week for what WWE referred to as “unprofessional conduct.” Shortly after the news broke, details emerged noting that Del Rio had slapped a WWE.com social media worker after allegedly making a racist comment.
10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Alberto Del Rio
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio stated that Del Rio tracked down the employee, Cody Barbierri, and asked him to apologize to no avail. After Barbierri laughed off the situation Del Rio delivered what Meltzer described as a “John Stossel-David Schultz” slap.
As of now Barbierri is still with the company but many expect him to be cut loose as the company doesn’t want to advocate racism any more than violence. Many wrestlers are also said to be upset about Del Rio’s release and see him in the right.
Sources close to Del Rio have said that he’s been unhappy in the company for over a year. Rumors swirled in January that the former WWE Champion was looking to exit the company following the completion of his contract as he’s financially stable from his past earnings. Del Rio would also have no issue finding work elsewhere as he’s a proven commodity.

Which brings us to Del Rio’s latest incident. He has been fired for what f4wonline is reporting as a slapping incident. The rumour is that a social media manager made a joke about dirty plates. Apparently someone wanted a catering plate cleaning, so the manager said that was Del Rio’s job. The wrestler heard about this and was offended. He went to the manager and asked for an apology. Instead he got a smile and a refusal to apologise. So Del Rio slapped him.
Clearly that was a wrong thing to do. However, you do have to wonder about the connotations around the dirty plates joke. Was this some sort of dig about Mexicans in the United States providing cheap labor? If that was the case, then surely Del Rio might end up having a complaint of his own. There could be legal implications here.
Regardless of right or wrong, Del Rio’s temper snapped. It gave WWE the reason that they were perhaps looking for in offloading the little used and expensive talent. He now seems destined to sign with TNA or AAA, although a 90 day no-compete clause could scupper any immediate plans. It depends on clauses around his severance. We’ll have to wait and see. Another appealing prospect could be retirement. Aged 37 and a multi millionaire, Alberto Del Rio might just be happy to embrace his real life as Alberto Rodriguez.
