    A Question

This past weekend I went around to some yard sales and flea markets. I picked up a few cards that I am unsure about at this one gentlemans house. All these cards are serial numbered, but they all have a small hole punch in them. They are all Topps brand cards, 8 of them are baseball, 2 basketball and 1 football card. I was listening(eavesdropping =P, since he wasn't talking very loudly) to the guy talk to one of his friends and he was saying how he works for a printing company and the employees sometimes get stuff for free but they arent allowed to take single sports cards home without having holes punched in them. This guy had a TON of printed stuff, movie memorablia, cards(singles, packs and boxes), comics, etc. Anyway, was wondering if what I got is the real deal or if it was just a scam. The lowest serial numbered card I got was a 1999 Topps Tek card of Ben Grieve numbered 2/10. I attached a picture of this card, you can see the hole is near the left center of the card. I bought everything from him in a packaged deal so the money isn't what I am worried about, I just want to make sure it is all legal and stuff.

    Thanks in Advance

That's pretty interesting. There is a fair amount of interest in Tek Gold cards, but I doubt you'd get much interest in it having a hole punched through it (same goes for pretty much any cards).

yeah, the holes punched would be a tough sell. Although, if you find a collector of a player they might be interested. It might be considered an oddball card, but just depends on the person.

Maybe the guys kid went crazy with a hole punch one day and he was scamming you. :)

If this was 10 years ago - I would say nice "oddball", but in today's market I would say very fishy, besides you can do the same to your cards with any scrapbook paper punch and say it's an 1/1 rarity (just like some sellers on ebay).
