its been reported in many books thru the years....thats why bret was given king of the ring to mend the fences cuz bret and hbk were first on wcw shopping list back in the day, and hey its common knowledge that the reason Hogan got to be the 3rd man in the nWo was because wcw was getting sick of passing out free hogan stuff to make em seem like top face, and he wanted to piece of hall and nash's rise........and again the only reason hogan was every a superstar was cuz of Piper.....had he been looked with big john studd he would have never been above mid-card....the heels make the superstars.......i mean i get your a hogan fan and u defend him which is cool but hogan has ruined alot of business also and is not no where near the greatest

SummerSlam 1993 was supposed to be Bret v. Hogan. It is well-known that the WWF did promo shoots with them doing the tug-of-war with the belt. Bret explains in his book:
p.313 - on dropping the belt to Yoko at WM9 and Hogan winning it and talking in the back after the match:
A few minutes later, Hogan came up to me excited and happy and said, "Thank you, brother. I won't forget it. I'll be happy to return the favour."
I look my old friend in the eye and said, "I'm going to remember that, Terry."
p. 317 - The photoshoot:
On May 24, I was summoned to a secret photo shoot in Halifax to do promotional shots for SummerSlam 1993. Hogan and I posed doing a mock tug of war with the World belt, standing chin to forehead, sneering and gritting our teeth. If I faced Hogan at SummerSlam, win or lose, I knew he'd be booed and I'd be the underdog. What didn't occur to me is that Hogan knew it too."
On May 29, Vince called me at home to tell me the big news that I was getting the belt back. What I didn't expect to hear was that he was getting ready to call Hogan and hated the thought of telling him that he was too old and tired for a company whose marketing strategy was now based around a "new generation" concept.

Ten days later, Vince called again. He warned me that he was about to tell me something that would make me really angry: Hogan was flat-out refusing to bput me over, saying I wasn't in his league. Vince had decided that Yoko would be getting the belt instead. I couldn't believe that Hogan would do this to me. I remembered him shaking my hand at WrestleMania IX, and telling me he'd be happy to return the favour.
p.320 - Vince and Hogan's Mind Games:
Terry told me that, yes, I was supposed to win back the belt, but that when Vince changed our contest at SummerSlam to a non-title match, he no longer wanted to do the match with me. But I clearly remembered the photo shoot we'd done with the belt and that Vince had told me I'd beat Hulk with the sharpshooter. I knew what I'd been told--and I stood firm.
"Vince said that you said I wasn't good enough for you to even consider putting eme over and that I wasn't in your league!"
"That's just not true, brother!" With a mad look in his eye Terry tugged me by the sleeved towards Vince's office and barged right in. I didn't mind. I wanted to know which one of my supposed friends was lying to me. Vince directed pleading eyes at me. And then when Hogan retold his version Vince coolly lied to my face. "I never, ever said it would be a title match."
I realized that there was some kind of head game going on between Vince and Hogan, and I was merely a pawn to be played with and discarded.
Nobody has come out and contradicted those statements. Obviously Vince and Hogan would be aware of those comments in Bret's book. If either of them felt that they were untrue, they would have come out and said so. The silence speaks volumes. You can't honestly believe in your heart of hearts that Hogan would want his last match in the WWF to be dropping the title to Yokozuna with a cheap finish like the exploding camera trick.
Obviously Vince, being Vince, told half-truths and outright lies to both of them. It's what he always did with his top stars to keep them on edge at all times.

ok and? Look at Cena, WWE has been trying to put him over since like 04. Just because the company tries to shove you down people's throats for years doesn't make you the best lol. How many match of the year awards has he won? maybe 1 or 2 only because of his storyline. HBK has won 11 match of the year awards. They didn't have to push a guy like that for them to have gifted charisma. Hogan was only "the business" because of the way he did business behind the scenes. Guys who were physically gifted and who helped push guys who don't get as much credit are who true fans remember as Greats in the business and for the progression of the business. If it came down to it Hogan didn't care whether the business drowned or not as long as his pocket were stacked. He rarely/almost never put guys over...that's not guys I consider to be great, sorry
