SPA has been producing auto rookies since 01-02 I think. That's almost 10 years for it to build a following. While Crowne Royale has been produced in the past, it never included auto rookies. It's possible for these to eventually gain more respect but it will take some time. I agree with you though, the Rookie Royaltys are some great looking cards.

Personally I would not even consider going for the rookie Royalty as i do not like die cut cards. Does not compare to the solid basic design of the Future watch autos. As with more of Paninnis stuff this year i find they tend to over design

the OP answered his own question
"SPA has the rep and following "
the same topic came up for YG's and the answer is the same

as to the OPs comment about ....
"The silhouettes obviously rank by themselves "
"but people really seem to love crown royale and the product panini is putting out"
"well you can't compare the silhouettes to future watches. silhouettes are on a level of their own, way better than the fw's"

.... to each his/her own, I disagree, I think the Crown Royale designs are silly and border on gaudy
sometimes simple is better
this would be a solid design if I were collecting cards of "Kings" and Queens however I am not, I collect cards of hockey players
