Tired of ebay! Rant rant rant

I just got 2 emails from Ebay saying I am restricted and can't list anymore items! I am tired of Ebays rules. I am tired of being "controlled" by buyers who feel I charge too much to ship items. I don't hide the shipping charges, they are clearly listed in the auctions, if you don't like the cost don't bid! I have been restricted by ebay and can't list anything until I get my ratings higher. My DSR's are 5 on items as described, 5 for communication, 5 for shipping time and 4.96 for shipping charges. But yet I am restricted!

I have nothing against USA, but because 16 people out of over 500 chose to give me 1 or 2 on shipping charges DSR I am now essentially out of business! I don't think $2.99 shipping is too much? Just because they can ship to Canada for like a buck and change doesn't mean I can ship to USA with a bubble mailer for the same price. It is $2.33 for the stamp ($2.06 + 13% tax) plus the cost of the bubble mailer ($12 cents), top loader, penny sleeve, paper for packing slip, ink for printer and a bit for my time and $2.99 is what I charge. Funny thing is I charge $2.99 to Canada as well and Canadians don't complain. Its $1.42 for the stamp to Canada, nearly a buck cheaper but Canadians don't complain about it!!

Ebay has created an atmosphere where USA sellers won't sell to Canada, and Canadians soon won't want to sell to USA. It is sad that the only way to get around my issue is to give free shipping. Why would I want to lose money doing that? even if i shipped for the actual cost it is more than USA sellers can ship for and they will still give low DSR's.

I am a Power Seller on ebay, my fees are roughly $1000 a month, I guess they don't like my money anymore. They have created such a one way street where the buyer has all the rights and the seller just gets the fees and the grief when a buyer isn't happy. I can't leave a buyer a negative, but they can leave me one even if they don't pay for an item! they can say almost anything they want. the negative hurts me regardless if it is true or not. If I want to protect myself from pp claims I have to ship with tracking and or signature confirmation. That means $10 or more for shipping. And they are already complaining about $2.99!!!

I'll stop ranting now, and please know that I am very angry right now so if I said anything that offends someone I am sorry, perhaps when I calm down I will be able to think clearer, but right now I don't give a you know what!

I agree with some of the stuff you're saying.

As for shipping prices, I'm pretty sure that people do read the description and understand how much you charge. But hey, I can get mad too if I receive an envelope where the postage says $2.15 while I paid $6.50! Maybe it doesn't sound like a lot of money to most, but if it happens often then you're suddenly paying a lot.

I don't leave negative feedback because of it, though.

I can agree that eBay sometimes have too many rules and restrictions, but it's usually necessary. Some of the rules, though, are unnecessary.

I'm sorry to hear that my friend....

I find it weird tho, because Personally my charges are pretty much, except for Quebec...

And in the last 6 months, i didnt get a single low star rating...

Buyers are WEIRD, and not fair

For those who don't live in Canada...Shipping to USa in a bublke mailer with customs form is 2.65$ with taxe + you need to cover your buble mailer etc.., if he charges 3$, its the lowest anyone could go, without loosing money for it

I had the same probleme as you tho before, what i did?

-Put lower shipping on tracked items....( pay a little part from your profit, but its worth it)
-I think you print out the labels.., email every person and copy past the price and shipping DATE ( it really helps they realise that you paid 2.65$, and understand more..

    Anyways gd luck

I have no problem paying $2.99 for shipping. I find that to be very reasonable. But like mentioned in this post if something arrives with $2.00 on the envelope and everything is jammed into one top loader and I'm charged $6.00 for shipping then my ratings reflect that.

I think that $3 is a fair price for shipping. I think buyers forget or don't realize that the cost of the stamp is only part of shipping. Materials for packaging should also be considered. If buyers only want to pay face value of the stamp, then they should not be surprised to receive their item in a plain white envelope with no protection at all. See what their reaction to that would be then. On the other side over inflated shipping charges to counter ebay/paypal fees is not permitted, and that is where you see $6 shipping for $2.02 stamp. It is absurd that the seller, who actually pays ebay and keeps them in business, is the one to suffer in these situations.

I have paid $ 5 and $ 6 for shipping on some items, only if it is known upfront. The prices are still fair compared to buying from local sellers or in many cases on forums. Mind you if it comes in a white envelope, I have no problem knocking off a few stars.

Ebay is definitely a place for buyers, the prices are so low that people who are not even fans of players will buy the cards only to sell the same card on a forum board for profit.

I am starting to think a 3rd party listing of Canadian buyers who say "the item never arrived" from the USA AND American buyers who leave poor ratings for Canadian sellers on shipping, need to be blacklisted to help those sellers in the future. You could even charge a small fee to be a member of this group for sellers to protect their interest in the future. From a buyers perspective I hate losing ebay sellers since it's my main source of collecting.

2.99 shipping is completely fair. However, those charging $4-8 for the same issue is way out there. Also like you mention, I dont have to buy from you if I dont want to. I believe in protecting the buyer but we must also protect the buyer because sooner or later no one will be selling which will put eBay out of business.

I don't understand why you're being called on for $2.99 shipping which to me is reasonable. The latest cards I've bought had shipping charges that varied from $3 to $4. The most expensive one at $4 was the worst of all... Some guy who lives in the same city as me and who would accept to Local Pickup, BUT only if I paid him $2 for his time. Seriously.... And you get slapped on for charging reasonable shipping?

Yeah, Ebay is a buyer's heaven and a seller's hell, but is there honestly an alternative?

I don't see anything wrong with $2.99. That's the same that I charge.... and usually get 5 stars for it.

(Typically I would do $2.49 in Canada, $2.99 to the USA).

I will say that if I pay $3 for shipping, and then I get a PWE - the stars drop quickly. I do expect shipping like you described for my $3.

Problem is that there are too many unreasonable people out there. I actually got neutral feedback once becuase I refused to meet with the person, to deliver $1 woth of cards.... wanted to ship them instead.
