My interesting find... Maple Leafs
I was digging through my cards, I have maybe 14-17k or so, not sure how many.
I was going through some misc/random ones... from the mid 90s and early 90s.
I came across a really nice looking one of a Maple Leaf player...
His name was Eric Frichaud, he was a big prospect goalie for Toronto in the mid 90s I guess. The card is a 94-95 Leaf Limited, very nice looking card.
On the back there's a quote from GM Cliff Fletcher, "We had him rated highly when we drafted him and he's done nothing to alter our opinion. We feel we've solidified the most important position in hockey for a long time to come."
Just interesting to see that on a guy I had never heard of. his QMHJL stats over 3 years were as follows
3.70 GAA, 55-34-4
not that good.

He went 0 and 6 with the Preds when he was backing up Dunham back in the day -- i think I still have a few of his BAP autos from those days ......

Actually that GAA isnt as poor as you think as the Q was very wide open around that time.

heh, interesting thread. Remember a bit about his short tenure as a Leaf prospect.
Surprising pick because the Leafs had young star goalie Felix Potvin already, but the Leafs head scout at the timeabsolutely had insisted on selecting Fichaud. That scout Pierre Dorion Sr. died about a week or two before that draft, and the Leafs ended up slotting down to select Fichaud kind of in honor I suppose. In his first training camp as a Leaf he blew the brass away and earned a big contract immediately but was dealt the next year.

Fichaud was touted as again another Quebec wunderkind in net. Gets a chance and cannot stop a Beachball.
Was it initially because he was a Leaf? A Leaf goaltending curse exists, I'm sure of it. Eric Fichaud, Alan Bester, Peter Ing, Justin Pogge.
