Bill Ripken FF Card Question

I have heard he will not sign that card. He will sign the black box or airbrushed version but not the unedited one. send him a index card and frame it withe the card

Signing a card that has an expletive written on the end of his bat. Somehow it passed thru whoever checks photos and was printed on cards.

I don't think it was a mistake. Card companies liked making error cards back then because it drove sales and this created controversy that made a lot of money for Fleer. Heck people are still talking about it 20 years later.

Ahh this card holds great memories for me ... I remember the craze over this card at shows when I was a kid. I've had this site bookmarked for years ... a great resource for more info on this card

I love that site. In fact, a few weeks ago I saw the '72 Billy Martin in a case at my LCS for $2 and I couldn't resist.

I was watching the mlbnetwork special about cards they had on a few days ago and they talked to Billy Ripken about that card. He said that he picked up a random bat after batting practice and had no idea it said that on the knob and he has no clue who wrote it.

I had heard that he wrote ™™™™ face on the bat because it was a second/poor bat/batting practice bat and that way he knew it, and then just grabbed a bat for the shot. That happened to be the one.

The only thing I've heard straight from Ripkens mouth though is also what was on the MLB network special.
