ebay shipping charges!
I just recently won an ebay Auction for a card that ended at $200. The guy didn't list the shipping charges.. Before I bid, I think it's an expensive card he'll want $15-20 for tracking, insurance etc. Auction ends, I win and send a request for invoice. Guy comes back with a shipping charge of $30!
Anybody have any similar stories and how they dealt with it? I asked him to justify the charges. I thought ebay had a grasp on these ludicrous sellers and extreme shipping charges after the fact.

ebay sucks for the most part. People up the shipping so they can make extra money to cover the fees that ebay takes.

It's always wise to know the shipping charges before bidding.

That's ridiculous to sting you with that much AFTER you win the item!
I'd ask him to be reasonable and lower the shipping, but then he could just look up and say, you should have asked before bidding...
I get it all the time living in England. People think they can take advantage of shipping and charge what they want.

I'm so sick of ebays shipping bs. I sell frequently on ebay and I feel I charge a reasonable amount. For 1 card in a toploader in a pwe I charge 1.00. For 3+ cards in a bubble mailer I've rarely charge more than 2.50 unless it's 20+ cards. I have 100% feedback but now they have the star ratings and people are hammering me on it and I'm getting warnings from ebay about my shipping charges being out of line. I see people all day long charging 2 to 3 buck for one card and I'm getting beat up over a buck? Makes me happy.

that is way too high for shipping, but it's not just shipping... people
it's shipping and handling.
for any single card I charge a minimal of 2.00 sometimes up to 3
time, protection, and materials take most of that up
it's just the way it is
I hate it when people want free shipping or like minimal shipping, most the cards that sell on ebay are like super cheap anyways

I have lots of experience selling and shipping cards on ebay. I have sold a Bobby Hull RC with a BV of $3k before. I understand the costs of packaging cards safely and securely to make sure they are in the same condition when they arrive at their destination as when they are packaged.
I want to have my costs covered like anyone else, especially when you have a card sell for 99 cents and if you don't have the s/h covered you lose money. I want my costs covered and I want to make sure that I cover my sellers costs too. But when Xpresspost costs $15, a bubble-mailer from Staples costs 50 cents, a top-loader and sleeve cost 10-15 cents, it takes 2 min to package and 5 min to stop at the post-office during your day out, charging $30 for shipping is ludicrous.
I don't mind paying $2-3 like you say, but charging $30 is quite different.
But I understand where you're coming from. There are buyers on ebay, and everywhere else, that expect to get everything for free.
I think $3 s/h for most singles is a fair price.
