just curious, last thing I want to do is get into an agruement over this but may I ask why you think the American Pickers guys approach is dishonest?

I am just not into the whole acting like some of the stuff they pick up is crap, then you see them on the side like I can get triple this etc.....and I myself just feel Rick (Pawn Stars) is more honest to people as he tells them a value of a item....

I didnt like that aspect of the show either but the more I watched it the more I began to like it. They are their with cash in hand, willing to buy and after the purcahse they do tend to restore some items. And their a business after all.

Very true, they may tell that to the people they buy off of not sure but they should mention it.....its like a whole fake aspect, they act like they find there childhood dream to the sellers and I just don't like it....

For the pickers show they offer people who would likely otherwise never sell anything cash for some items slowly rusting in a barn. It's not just the cost of the items they buy, when you factor in their time, gas, overhead costs and everything else they have to purchase items at a low price. Of course I can understand the misdirection problem with haggling but unfortunately that is the way its usually done. They are not making much money, if they didn't have a network paying them they would make a modest living. Everyone seems to be happy enough to sell, of course they are on t.v. too, seems fair enough to me.

I guess to me(and it might just be me) but it looks like they pass them selfs off as geniune collectors, and not resellers....maybe they do b4 they appear but I don't know that for sure....

Thats one thing I never got into American Pickers....there approach just seems way to dishonest for me......Pawn Stars is cool at times...I could do without Old Man and more Chumlee lol....and I like that new one with Rick on fridays....

How are they dishonest? They always say right up front that they are buying to re-sell and that their offer is based on that. I have even seen them give someone $50 for an item that the person only wanted $10 for because they knew it was worth more and didn't want to rip the person off.

    ---------------------------------

If it isn't obvious...I am an American Pickers fan. I like Swamp People too.
