i would pick Perry, Anaheim probably wouldnt have made the playoffs without him. i mean cmon, 19 goals in 14 games?

i think its hard to recognize a goalie for a Hart candidate unless they had ridiculous stats, such as Hasek in 98-99 when he had a 1.89 GAA and a .937 save percentage. from what i've seen, Price was a huge part of Montreal's success....but so was Lundqvist with the Rangers. Both led their teams to the playoffs and both had practically the same stats, but i havent heard Lundqvist thrown into the Hart mix, barely even the Vezina for that matter. Point is, there are several goalies that could be mentioned.....anyway, all three are deserving candidates

Perry stands a chance because he was the only player to reach the 50-goal plateau. That sticks out in voters' minds. Ditto Sedin reaching 100 points. Ultimately, it will come down to which statistic voters put more credence in, and whether they feel an obligation to reward Sedin for playing for the better team.

That there is still a Price argument at all is beyond ridiculous. Should we go back in time and recount all the times Martin Brodeur single-handedly hauled the Devils' lifeless offensive corpse not only into the post-season, but to a perennial top-4 seed in the Eastern Conference? By the logic shared by some on the boards, he should have been nominated for the Hart 8 or 9 times.

Price was either the fourth- or fifth-best netminder in the NHL this season, depending on how you measure him up against Henrik Lundqvist. Tim Thomas set the single-season save percentage record, finished 35-11-9, posted the league's lowest goals-against average and had nine shutouts. Pekka Rinne took a team whose leading scorer finished with 50 (!) points and helped them post 99 points. Roberto Luongo went 38-15-7, had the second-lowest GAA in the game and had a .935 save percentage in the second half despite playing in more meaningless games than any other team in the NHL.

I get that Montreal fans are proud of Price, and they should be. He silenced nearly all of his critics with a great season. But let's try a little perspective here. He won barely more than half the games he played (his adjusted record: 38-34.) He finished second in the NHL in regulation losses. His worst month was worse than any of the other goalies mentioned in the Vezina conversation, and if you follow the voting at all, you know that consistency from beginning to end counts for a lot.

Maybe people are so high on Price because the bar was so low at the beginning of the season. But let's get real: he has no business being in the Hart conversation. Thomas set a league record. Rinne did more with less. Luongo had a better winning percentage, lower GAA and was more consistent. None of them earned a Hart nomination. Price clearly didn't deserve one, either.

Very well put, also agree. Price on any other team wouldn't even be talked about in the same sentence as the hart trophy or vezina.
