I agree with seanerster in both ways. I love this idea and have been watching your progress so far, but in other sense it doesn't seem as right if your adding more to the trades to make them happy.
I'm loving it so far, that Ovechkin patch is a real beauty, nice 3 color patch.

I agree that The extras are kind of cheating but I don't want to rip someone off and if they'd be more comfortable trading if I gave em a small young gun or something just to make it work, I don't think it ruins it. For me, it's my way of thanking them.
It's not for charity so I don't want free upgrades. I'm not really adding too much to make things work either. The main piece is still the center of the deal.
Thanks for the input though. Glad you like the idea :)

That is true Tuukkatime, the cards are great so far I didn't read it in your first post but is their a certain card you are trying to reach or are you just aiming as high as you can get?

I don't really want to have an aim because then I'll always be looking towards that motive. I would like a nice Gretzky rookie or something that I always wanted when I was younger but couldn't afford (and on a university budget still probably can't lol) but its a summer project and I'd just like to see where the wind takes me.
To vaneksnipes: I'm not using your card. That is my first auto of those 2 and I think I'll hold on to it for a while. I haven't received it yet but I'm sure it's stunning.
I always want to publicly thank nyRangersfan8169 for all the advice he's given me. A classy trader and a very nice guy.
Also, please call me Matt :)

When you do eventually wrap this up it would be most cool to see everything you had to throw in of your own (cash and cards) along with the trades to get the full scope of this journey.
Keep pushing, I can't wait to see where this ends up.

Very much agree. Doing this withno add ons is the purest form, but I'm enjoying this more as a documentary of the life of a card value, and how it can transform and grow with clever trading.

I completely agree. But put it this way, The extras I added amount to less than these fine traders paid in shipping (especially pauly).
You guys had some great ideas! I'll add the exact cards I added to give a better picture.
Thanks for the constructive input,
Matt

Good luck. There was a story in the paper here recently where this 18 year old began with a dollar and eventually turned it into his first car, by trading.
