I did not understand Winnipeg's selection at #7 at all. That's what you get for treating your former GM (and coach) so poorly! Your new/inexperienced GM botched that one.

The Oilers did fantastic. Nugent-Hopkins, Klefbom, and Musil will all be future NHL players. RNH will likely be our first-line center of the future, and Klefbom/Musil have the ability to be top 4 dmen. The later picks added some depth to our organization, especially at the goaltending position.
The Habs, my second favorite team, flopped. Beaulieu is a very good defenceman, don't get me wrong, but they drafted defencemen after defencemen during rounds 2-7. I didn't think that's what they needed, especially with Markov, Subban, Gill(maybe after next year), Gorges(probably), Yemelin, Tinordi, Weber, Nash and Carle all in the organization, is defence really a need like McGuire said? They would have probably targeted a defenceman in free agency anyways.
I thought they should've taken Mark McNeil with the 17th pick. He's a big center with good skill and strength, something Montreal has been lacking in the organization for a long time. But that's just me. I personally didn't think they needed defence.

I don't think they botched it at all, that's the player the wanted to get and used the chance they had to get him. This kid hasn't even come close to hitting his potential yet in juniors, he put up 75 points in his rookie season and came very highly suggested by Dale Hawerchuk

I'm also a little bit baffled by the selections. I think that Beaulieu was a good choice - they've got an eye to the future on that front as there's going to be a couple openings in the coming years. Spacek & Gill will likely both be gone after this season, and the prospect of Markov, Subban, Gorges, Tinordi, Beaulieu, Weber, and Yemelin in 3 years...that's exciting stuff.
Beyond the first round, however, I would have liked to see more forwards selected. There's not too many guys coming down the pike up front that scream 20-30 goal seasons in the NHL. I guess they intend to build from the goalie out, and just rely on the free agent market for their forwards.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Theres a few that we feel shouldn't have. But obviously these scouts know something we don't about him. They, as well as a few other teams, made the choice to go another direction. Makes you wonder why? But only they know

I was yelling after the Sens didn't take him for the Sabres to trade up for him!
Philly not only unloads Carter for the #8 pick, but they get a guy that is now going to have a chip on his shoulder... *headslap*
