Hi Joe and welcome to SCF!

If your here for fun and collecting then you'll really enjoy yourself. If you want to make money then good luck.

I have been collecting for a very long time. I've seen people come and go because they thought they could make money. So be it . Many many people are very active in the hobby. I share my collecting with my son's. I enjoy it as a hobby. If I wanted to make some extra money I'd get another job. Thats no fun for me LOL! Just my opinion - for me :D

Thank you all very much for the replies. When I was younger (Many moons ago) my friends and I were very avid collectors and we would have fun with cards playing flip and boy did I lose many, many games of flip but it was fun. As I got older I tried to collect for profit and quite honestly when I saw I wasn't making anything I guess I got turned off by it and stayed away for a few years.

I am back again and I refuse to allow "making a profit" get in the way of the fun I have collecting. I have a decent collection and what I am going to do is what Jeremy Falcons recommended with finding a niche. I think my niche will be collecting certain players, rookie cards, and auto's and i will stick with it.

I remember going to the card store only one year ago and not being able to wait to get back to my car so I can open my packs to see what I got, even my wife laughed about it LOL. It was like being a kid all over again. I think what I will do is set a weekly or monthly budget on purchasing cards and stick to it so I do not come face to face with the wrath of my wife and see where this journey takes me.

I had a phenomenal time in chat last night and I met some good people and I think although the chat may be for beginners I am going to be a regular Tuesday nights. Sorry for rambling on.

    Joe
