They don't know about that yet. When the NHL locked out a few years ago they based the list on the franchise's success over the last three years... So teams like Minnesota who haven't done well the last three years would get the highest pick.

Glen Davis wants sides to compromise
"Take the 51 percent man and let's play," Davis tweeted Wednesday afternoon, referring to the primary sticking point in negotiations between the union and the league. The players want 52.5 percent of basketball-related income, while the league is standing pat on its proposal of 50 percent.

Sources: Union execs to meet Thursday
After spending the past few days trying to convince outsiders that its union is not splintering, members of the NBA Players Association's executive committee will meet this week to map out their next move in stalled labor negotiations with league officials.
Sources told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher that the union's executive board has scheduled a Thursday session in New York in the wake of multiple public denials from executive director Billy Hunter and president Derek Fisher. The denials followed numerous published reports since the weekend that the union's top two officials are no longer working in concert.

Please forgive me if what I write is repeated stuff...
While the GMs/Owners have their share of the blame, I mean they are the ones who gave the contracts to Glenn Robinson, Joe Smith, Kevin Garnett, Jim Mcclvaine, and etc...my issue is that the players are NOT aware or they dont seem to portray to the media they are aware of the economic difficulties.
Perhaps they are...look at Andy Rautins moving in with his parents. But even if so, what gripes me is those players who cut short their time in Europe because they couldn't take it, ala Dajuan Summers (his team gave him a home, car) what else do you want?
Billy Hunter needs to get his head out of pre 2008. Well he gets paid regardless right?
David Stern isnt the most liked person, but he knows the bigger picture. Its just like my job, where I am the boss. But I still have to report to a committee who sits there every other few months, suggests ideas which I have to implement but do not sit in on daily operations to know the real situation of the industry I am in.
This lockout is getting stupid. Now the focus is more on the gripes and players getting ticked off....that should be a sign.
Players should be grateful, that in such a bad economy, and its worse than it looks, I just had to lay off 5 full time staff and use less water in the office....that they are still earning millions from sponsorships, signing stickers...wearing a million jerseys at one time..and playing something they enjoy. frankly, they dont deserve such high salaries....

NBA owners, players resume talks
NEW YORK -- NBA owners and players are trying again to end the lockout before it can do further damage to an already-shortened schedule.
They resumed negotiations Saturday with federal mediator George Cohen, who faced a difficult task in trying to help the sides close the financial gap that derailed talks again last week.
The two sides met for more than four hours.

Let's see if the players are stupid enough NOT to take a 50/50 deal (if it's still even available from the owners)... If not, I don't think there will be a season.
