Yeah, but T.O. if he loves football should get in there and play it. He's still making PLENTY of money, its not like hes makin 5.25 an hour if he doesnt hold out. There are tons of high school and college kids that would dream of having the opportunity he has, and he has to be like that about it? Hes an excellent player but...bleh.

I haven't read the thread just the antics heading.
Maravich...TRUE. Play the darn game, work out the "Contract" which YOU JUST FRICKN SIGNED behind the scenes. The reason for his dispute, I don't know, but this circus would be leaving town if I had a say.

I know I'm going to regret throwing my two cents worth into this because you will all probably have a fit about it. I agree that T.O. should honor his deal. But I also think that if ownership doesn't honor the deals they give to players then turn about is fair play. A guy signs a 6 year deal and at any point in time a team can cut him and not have to honor his contract. I just read where Peter Warrick is being forced by the Bengals to take a paycut to the league minimum or be cut altogether outright. Now is that fair? Shouldn't the team have to honor its end of the deal? And since they don't have to honor their end of the deal why should any player have to honor theirs? It's just not an equitable situation when ownership can choose for any reason or no reason at all to not honor a deal, but when a player does it everyone wants to say their greedy and ownership wants to paint them as not being a team player.

Do we know all the particulars about warrick? perhaps he hasn't met some provision? regardless
I agree 110% both sides need to honor a Contract(Since a handshake means nothing..lol) well for that matter even a signed contract means nothing anymore..Unless one of us breaks one. My viewpoint is(Too simple..lol, and can't happen)but play or don't...cut the crappolla!

It's his choice. Thats what seperates the NFL and the NBA/MLB. The players also don't have to honor the deal. They just won't get paid.
As for TO's situation, the guy's a clown. He never takes responsiblity for the team's shortcomings, but he's the first to tell you(OVER and OVER again) about the good things he's done. But thats not what's discussed here, so I digress. TO shoudn't be mad at anyone other than himself and his prior agent. That agent failed to meet the FA deadline, which TO was unaware of because he was on Planet TO as always. So he whines his way into being traded to Baltimore. He doesn't like that. He wants to be traded to the Eagles, who are COINCIDENTALLY offering more money. But he says it isn't about the money. So DESPITE the player's union telling him not to take the deal, he gets his way and signs with the Eagles. He goes there, with a very good contract, and is all too eager to complain about it the first offseason.
Tough luck TO. You're still being paid like a top 5 WR this year. You were paid like a top 3 WR last year. And if you perform up to it, you will see the large #s at the end of that contract. Or worst case scenario, the Eagles cut you and some other team wants to throw money at you in FA. Either way, it's the deal you signed, knowing the money breakdown for each year. You knew how it was set-up, you knew how much you'd be making this year. So why is it just now a big deal? Wouldn't those things be important to hammer out, I don't know, when you were negotiating the contract?!?!

I hope they suspend owens for the year for conduct determental to the team. they can do this and he wont get paid a cent. i cant stand him or his agent.i like the eagles but there gonna be tough to watch with him on the field. did you guys hear he was at the falcons preseason game they already said they dont want him how pathetic .Then he gets on espn and actually compares himself to brett favre at least he wasnt compairing himself to jesus this time. all he says is how he came back from his injury blah, blah, blah but they still lost they could have done that without his help. and the last time i checked they made it to the sb without him to begin with and the championship game the previous two years. sorry if this is incohesive
