    Ebay question

So here is a situation... looking for some opinions and feedback. I sold 2 Subbans a while back. The buyer took quite some time to pay, and then after being asked a few times for payment, finally sent payment. The value was 38.00 so no tracking was purchased. After it was too late for him to file any sort of dispute he messaged me saying the cards had not yet arrived. Thinking it was just our slow postal service, I asked him to give it some time, and hope it would show. It I got a message a week later saying that it still hasnt shown, but he will give it one more week. And should it not show, what would I propose we do. I replied saying we will cross that bridge if we have to. So another week goes by, I get a message saying still no package, and he wants a refund. And that although it is too late for him to file a case he will leave me a negative feedback if I dont. I am relitively new on ebay, and one neg would look really bad. Thinking something seems a little fishy, I looked through the feedback left for him and by him. I came across 2 cases in the past couple of weeks, where his feedback that he left was something to the effect of handle dispute/difficult situation very well. I went and messaged those 2 people. Now one replied, saying that the situation was that this buyer did not recieve his cards. Just like my situation. The other seller replaced with similar value cards. I am going to wait and see if the second person gets back to me. Something seems a little off though. to have 3 cases like that within a month, just seems wrong. Unfortunately I dont know what recourse I have. If I refund him i am out 40.00, If I dont I have a black mark on my account. Any advice from any more experienced ebayers would be more than welcome. Sorry for the long read, but Im not sure what to do.

That does seem a bit odd that a person would suddenly have so many problems receiving his cards. This, however:
he wants a refund. And that although it is too late for him to file a case he will leave me a negative feedback if I dont.

People are not allowed to hold you hostage like that. It's called extortion and eBay doesn't allow it. Save the messages, and if things get nasty forward everything to the eBay dispute resolution people, definitely mentioning that this guy has a growing history of claiming that he's not receiving his cards. Good luck.

That was my first thought... But what are the chances of having a neg reversed if that is the case. Also one of the other members has said he will forward me the entire email exchange regarding their transaction. Looking back he figures something was definately up.

I have a little over 3000 transactions on Ebay over the years and Richard hit it right on the head.

Do exactly what he said and you will be fine when it's all said and done.

I appreciate the heads up guys. These days everybody is so worried about their feedback I could see it being easy for poeple to use it to hold someone hostage like that. I guess its just an unfortunate side of the system.

I guess that leads me to my next question, is there anywhere on the forum for a list of blocked ebay users or somewhere to post warnings etc.?
