    Dominion - Individual card prices

Is it just me or are people far more reluctant to jump in with the ridiculous prices that the cup cards are currently getting?

Not much has sold yet so it is still early but the big names of the big cards are not moving yet....

Yeah, some cards are selling sort of high, but for the most part everyone seems reluctant to bid.

First thing I noticed was the RCs started with lower prices than similar Cup cards. Good example is Taylor Hall RC. Selling for $2500 out of the gate and still going for ~$1800 with Cup AS A REDEMPTION and no one is biting at $1500 with THE LIVE Dominion...

I think a lot of people are going to reluctant to bid. To be frank, I think most people see UD Cup as the masterpiece of Hockey Cards...to some, including a lot of people I have talked to, Dominion kind of feels like the cheap counterfeit of the Cup. It might take a few years for people to really latch onto this product.

    It's saturation.

The high-end products are outlasting wallets at the moment. There too much high-end product and not enough consumer interest.

Products like Dominion and The Cup, I would only launch in the first or 2nd week of the regular season, or, just before the Christmas rush, no other time.

August and September are too early. Timing is everything when it comes to sales in general.

I bet that Hall would've gone higher had the guy put a BIN of $2500 instead of $1800 on it. I think that's the first Dominion Hall to outsell a Cup redemption. Definitely a triumph for Panini to outsell the best of the best when it comes to hockey brands.

And when you say no one is biting at $1500...the first one out of the gate sold for $1500 with another BIN:

And who needs autos on a Limited Logo like the Cup if their Peerless Patches with more selective and unique patches continue to sell like this...

The first one has a great patch, but I feel once some of the Cup Hall cards hit Ebay live that the prices on those will go up higher, there are some nice patches on those too.

The second link ended AFTER I made my post and I haven't figured out how to see into the future....yet. You'll noticed the one I linked is still up.

I never expected Dominion to outsell the Cup but the RCs are still selling for significantly less than the Cup ones out of the gate. And with the Dominion ones look nicer than the Cup (IMO) with the bigger patch and, usually, bigger autograph, I guess it's just a case of collectors who can't afford both choosing the more recognized brand (or the one that came out first).

    Yikes!

I don't think anyone ever questioned the uniqueness of any of Panini's patches. People just want something comparable to what the Cup offers in terms value. There are just not enough Auto/GU cards in Dominion. Imagine what that card would have sold for with an auto...

If the cards are selling this well without having an auto and GU both on the card, then the formula is working for them somehow. People are paying it. Look at what Manon Rheume autos are selling for...it's craziness. Her Private Signings sold for $200....without a patch or serial number on it. A Manufactured Heritage Classic auto of Subban sold for $300 and $250.

Of course we all wish cards in high ends all had autos and patches on them, but people are voting with their wallets for what they put in Dominion, and some of the votes are pretty loud.

It's funny that an auto and patch of Taylor Hall can't outsell an auto and patch redemption of Hall in The Cup, but two unsigned Peerless Patches of Ovy have doubled and tripled what his Limited Logos auto patch redemption sell for.
