well while we are there here is another story that it is funny in a genius way ,

me and my friend from work went to toronto to attend the leafs and red wings game and we had great seats , platinum to be exact that we paid arround $300 each at the time and while these seats come with an access to the entrance where the players come in and out of the ice, we made sure that we used that option. and in the end of the game that ended unfortunatley in Detroit winning 4-1 we again went down there to see the players for the last time and there was a young lady attending to a young man arround 17 or 18 years of age wearing a wings jersey in a wheel chair that had a thick oxygen mask on his face and barley was able to lift his hands to clap for the red wings players as they came of the ice and when yzerman at the time saw him he stopped and talked to him and thanked him personally along with a couple of other players , the young lady started to tell the young man's who she said he was her brother story and how doctors said that he could sleep and not wake up on any given day and therefore his wishes were to attend as much hockey games as he could of his favorite teams , now after that story the young man ended up with yezerman's game used jersey and stick , Drapers stick and federov's stick and they all signed them , I at the time thought it was great of the players to do that and felt so bad for the young man that i was almost in tears thinking that all these nice stuff and he might not live long enough to enjoy them . after the players all went to the dressing room we left the arena and went clubbing in down town Toronto all night and then off to sleep to our hotel , when I woke up the next mornning and came down to the restaurant to have my breakfast there i saw that same young lady sitting on the table next to me and a second before i asked her how her brother was doing i saw a young man coming toward the table walking like a champ carrying couple glasses of orange juice he gave the young lady a kiss on the lips and sat down , and guess what it was the same young man that was on the wheel chair the night before , and after my jaw dropped on the table i could not hold my self but to ask why did they do it after i told them that i know what they did , he answered , buddy do you have any idea what these game used stuff sell for , believe it or not they invited me to their table and told me that they have been doing this for a long time and they made allot of money doing it then i learned the best item they ever got was team USA's goalie from salt lake city Olympics who gave his mask to him after one of the games and they ended up selling it for almost $20.000 to a collector in new york .

While reading this I felt sorry for the kid and thought it was nice of the Wings.

Then half way through I wanted to beat the s**t out of the people who did this. Fricken low lifes.

When I was really young I was looking through my dad's binder of a complete 90-91 Upper Deck set. Looking through, I decided I wanted him to give me the Vladimir Krutov RC from the set (don't ask why, because it was a Canuck, I guess), but I knew he wouldn't just give it to me. I figured I needed to bring it to his attention, so I creased up the Brian Bradley card next to it. I guess in my very young mind, I figured, he'd see the Bradley card was destroyed, look at the Krutov next to it and decide I should have it? I don't know, I was, like, 6.
Anyway, I creased the Bradley card, put it back and returned the binder.
A few hours later, my dad found the card and I had to trade my Brian Bradley for his. I still have that wrecked card.

My dad used to keep his cards at the top of his closet and, whenever I could, I'd climb up there to look at them. One time I went up there while eating crackers. I looked at the cards for awhile, put them back and went about my day figuring I'd gotten away with it (of course I wasn't allowed to go up there). Yup, I thought I was in the clear...until my parents asked why there were 4 crackers on one of the closet shelves.

At jets practice you could tell Kane, mason and a bunch signing many autographs
Burmistrov asking if anyone else wanted one(like 2000 people) and apologizing when he had to leave

Players like conroy, Is what we need more of

(doughty because he's whining and complaining about being paid 7k a year TO PLAY HOCKEY
Meanwhile Johnny works 9hours daily of hard work construction and gets paid 10$ hour

Mike Modano and Chris Chelios are like this. They just don't get it. Their behaviour is attrocious, I have witnessed both players telling kids to "Get Lost" when disembarking from team buses and being asked for autographs.

The get lost in the case of Chelios was a hyphenated word ending in -off.

A story about "class" and an "™™™".

I won't write the "novel-version" of the story (try not to anyways) but have a friend in the US West Coast that does allot of charity/volunteer work with dis-abled and handi-capped kids. Often times, they get in-touch with teams ahead of time, so that some of the kids can either meet some of the players/get autographs during practice or even after a game.

They (my friend, his wife, a couple of other helpers and a pile of kids) were in the parking area of the arena before the SJ Sharks were to get on their bus. They were told that the bus wouldn't be leaving for 40-minutes, so there would be plenty of time to meet some of the players, get a photo taken etc.

Allot of the players stopped to shake hands with the kids, take photos and sign autographs. Some even went back into the dressing room, got a stick or a bucket of pucks and signed those. Some but not all...

The "great" Dany Heatley either explained "that he doesn't have a pen", "sorry but the bus is about to leave" or my friend's favourite: " pulled out his phone (which he could see was turned-off) and pretended to talk on it, while he walked by the entire group of kids - not giving them a damm thing. Apparently, Joe Thornton wasn't much better, although he did sign a few photos. While many of their teammates were posing for photos, these class-acts sat on an almost empty bus.

My buddy and his crew were now in quite a "place", because not only did the kids get "stiffed" but were treated like crap and quite a few, were all now visibly upset. They did the next logical thing, gathered everyone together and promised to take them for ice-cream. Just before they are ready to leave, my friend gets a tap on his shoulder and it's Patrick Marleau, who actually got off of the bus and offered some type of apology for what he likely saw.

My friend thanked him and apparently Marleau said that he would speak with the team's management and try and get something done for the kids. My friend said that Marleau looked sick to his stomach, apologized at least 5-6 times and would have given the watch off of his hand. This made everyone happy. Marleau got back on the bus and just as they were again about to leave, my friend said a man and a woman approached them and as he put it, the man's face was "red as a tomato". My friend thought that he had either fallen asleep in a tanning booth or was a nano-second away from exploding.

The woman echoed Marleau's apology and provided a contact name/number for the group to get ahold of the Sharks for their next home-stand. My buddy only found this out later but the lady was with the Sharks PR staff and the guy who could barely speak, was Doug Wilson the GM. Wilson has a reputation as one of the classiest men in the entire NHL and as my friend put it, he wasn't worried about the press writing a story about this but was disgusted that someone from his organization would "shame the team" in this manner.

In the end, a month or so later, the kids got to spend a day at the rink. Watched a practice, met with players, had what my friend called an "unbelievable spread for lunch", and then finished off the day by sitting in a suite, watching the game, while being treated like royalty in the process.

When they were all leaving that night, my friend ran into Wilson and wanted to thank him for what the team and allot of the player's wives had done for the kids. Before my friend could even get a word out, Wilson didn't ask how they enjoyed their day but rather, again went right to the apology for what had happened earlier.

Everyone can have a bad day but there have been many stories about Heatley's arrogance over the years. Same with Thornton, although most of what you hear about the guy, is usually positive. With that said, if you're making $7-million/yr and you're a jerk, you'd better score 50-goals/yr. Enjoy Minnesota Danny!

Just have to ask since everybody seems to "hate" Mr Heatley. Has he always been rude or is he this way becouse of the accident perhaps? I can only imagine how many times he heard some of the questions.
