I will start with the failure today. I sent to David Meggett c/o his prison and the prison wouldn't let it through, including a copy of why it was rejected in my envelope before it was RTS'd. Apparently, in South Carolina, inmates can break out of prison using a football card or can mail themselves out of prison in a SASE! Honestly, how can a football card be contraband? It's not like it can be made into a shank or something. I've seen people get returns from prison before. The form literally says "Other: Sport card/ Blank Stamped envelope" I guess writing an address on the envelope means it is still blank. At least they got the stamped part right. There isn't even a phone number to call to find out the proper procedures, darn government cutbacks! All kidding aside, this made no sense to me.

    Now for the successes:

Gordon King signed 1/1 c/o home and wrote and signed a note wishing me luck on my collection.
Brian Kelley signed 1/1 c/o home, great return from the Crunch Bunch member. Took only 4 days, one of the quickest returns ever.
Jason Whittle signed 1/1 c/o home
Karl Nelson signed 1/1 c/o home and like other 1986 Giants included "SB XXI Champ Giant" on the card.

    Congrats on your pick ups!

I will say I used to work in a prison and its not b/c the card is contraband it is b/c inmates use stamps in prison like money we use. Stamps/cigarettes can buy a lot in prison from other inmates. They are only allowed to have a certain amount of stamps.

I do agree I think it is a stupid policy that they have but we can't change it.

Thanks, SLNoble, I had no idea inmates would use stamps as currency. I can't help but wonder how other people get successes from prison without sending a SASE. Maybe next time I'll offer to trade him something that can probably get passed the guards like a cellphone so he can feel compensated for his own stamps. HAHA. In all seriousness, I wish the prison had a phone number on the paper so that I can find out how to go about getting Meggett's autograph. Oh, well, I might just have to wait the 30 years until he gets free. Let's hope Harvey is still putting out lists then!

Just enclose a $1 or 2 and mention it in the letter- tell him you put it on "the books." (It may have to be a Money Order to work)

I doubt they will let me send a dollar in the mail, or even allow a money order through. If they use stamps as currency I wonder what real currency is used for in prison! I might just drop the team set idea I was working on for 30 years...well 28 now, and hope he gets an early parole! lol Thanks for the input though.

Billy Taylor signed 1/1 c/o home. That came in yesterday. Today brought former kicker Steve Christie who played with the G-Men in 2004 before calling it a career. Jeff Hostetler refused my letter c/o home. Nothing has changed with him. Just as pleasant in person.

Managed to get a couple of great deals on eBay for certified auto cards of Jason Sehorn and Terrell Thomas so the collection is still growing.

They won't let it through, but they will put it in his account and will probably give him notification of such.

Terry Jackson was an RTS from his home address.

Tom Mullady signed 1 card and sent along a note wishing me luck with my collection.

@SMVinatge....yeah, I'm not worried about it, was hoping to get him for a team set but I do have him on a card already. I just won't do any team sets with him in it....until he gets out of prison.
