Does Beckett Just Randomly Assign Value Sometimes?
I'm sure we've all complained about Beckett from time to time, but I noticed this today and just had to make a topic because it's ridiculous IMO.
The Phil Esposito base auto hasn't been priced by Beckett (odds are 1:696). On Ebay the last 2 that sold went for $62 and $78.
The Phil Esposito Champ's mini auto has been priced by Beckett at $40 (odds are 1:2,183). There are 2 on EBay at the moment, mine and another one BIN $60. Only 1 has sold on Ebay, went BIN for $45.
Ok, despite the fact I think the $45 one was an absolute steal and $60 also may be priced too slow, how the hell does Beckett have it as only $40?
Another example is the Gordie Howe. 1:696 base auto has BV $120. 1:2,183 Champ's auto has BV $120. Same value, right. Sales of the base auto have been around $120, but the only Champ's one sold for $68.
Anyway, I suppose after writing all this it's not all Beckett's fault, it seems like people are buying the regulars for more than the Champ's ones, which are harder to get. No one likes mini autos, even though the auto is so much cleaner on them than the regular cards?
Oh well.Hidden Content (cards crossed out are pending arrival)

U could write a set of encyclopedias on Beckett and their mysteries. So much makes me mad, one example that gets me is Toews YG and Stamkos YG, both sell for pretty well the same, Toews on average about 5$ less, yet Toews books 60 and Stamkos 100
Why i cant justify trading a toews YG for 60$BV when I could sell it for 45$, use that to buy a stamkos for 45$, and bam theres 40$BV free to trade with

Heck even the Toews Rookie Headliners Insert card has a BV of 50$ which I can NEVER justify trading for.

The Champs Phil Esposito mini auto has gone off ebay as low as $13 bucks.

In that case at 13$ the 40$BV makes sense

Yes...beckett is off their rocker.
They used to relevant but arent anymore.
Now, they are a way to waste your money....same goes for grading anything that isnt vintage.
People and their money...blah..blah

Beckett has it right with these guys. They are near bottom feeders re: hobby status.

Panini told me (using Beckett) that a Corey Perry Crown Royale auto /50 is worth the same as a Luxury Suite rc auto /499 of Kyle Clifford.
The last Perry Crown Royale auto /50 went for 20+ dollars...the last Clifford LS /499 went for 1.58.
But yes..thats a fair equation :P
