Apparently Dallas is not going to sign some of it's players like Barea, Chandler to pursue either Williams and/or Paul and Howard.

Also read somewhere yesterday that the Lakers wanto to get both Howard and Paul and they are willing to trade everyone but Bryant.

It's obviously not fair to compare baseball to basketball straight up but I def see your pt and I don't really like how small market teams are getting killed in the NBA.

That's one of the reason there is no one trying to buy the Hornets.
You might be able to make some money by running a team, mostly from TV deals and luxury tax refunds (if you are a small market teams), but it's hard to win if you r Charlotte, or Milwaukee etc.

But just like the Memphis Grizzlies last year, or Oakland A's few years back, winning cheap is very much possible.

These superstars need spotlights, that's why Melo and Amare went to NY, A-Rod and CC stayed in NY.

Sure a small market team can win in the NBA for a few years if you draft really well for several of those years (Like Oklahoma City), but if those guys won't resign with you even if you offer a max contract, then you know there is a problem.

In the NFL/MLB a lot of teams go into the season thinking they have a chance to win, in the NBA that doesn't happen. I already know the Pistons have no chance to do anything, that's the problem.

MIAMI (AP)—Shane Battier(notes) said at this point in his career, he only wants“a winning role.”
He figures his best chance of that is with the Miami Heat.

Heard something on the radio about a three way deal involving CP3 to the Lakers... didn't catch much of it.

Paul would go to the Lakers
Scola, Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic, a 1st and 2nd round pick to the Hornets
    Gasol to the Rockets.
