In reference to Centrehice's comment about judging a gm based on winning, then Burke's time in Toronto has been a failure thus far. If the Leafs continue to win this season and next, it will be directly tied to how Kessel plays. hence my comment about Burke's legacy being tied to the Kessel deal. I am loving the Leafs season so far and just jope it continues this year and well into the future.

All a moot point until they make the playoffs. Being competitive and being a playoff team is a HUGE difference. Until Kessel can do better than -3 against upper echelon teams (Granted, I only have the Bruins to judge by, as thats all the Leafs games Ill watch) once the playoff race starts to kick in, they will fade once again. Ill admit though, they played a decent game against the B's Wed. No chance Saturday at the Garden though :)
EDIT: BTW, unless Colborne gets a leg transplant he won't be a #1 Center, he's just not that good of a skater.

Good read, thanks! This is one of those things that will only be decided by time. If the Leafs can be successful consistently and in the playoffs (more importantly) then Burke will be vindicated.

This is an awesome read! Thanks for posting it. Missing the info on Kulemin who is a bona fide 2nd liner as he scored 30 goals last year. This year he has the chances but no puck luck. He works extremely hard on the forecheck and backcheck. He blocks shots, hits, makes good plays, and yet can't buy even a garbage goal. He was on the ice screening Rask for the only Leafs goal in the 4-1 loss to the Bruins. No point on that play. It is frustrating to see my favourite player on the Leafs struggling but I think it has to do with Ron Wilson's lack of coaching skills in helping his players develop. His personality is not good for helping players who are struggling. However, the Leafs aren't going to fire him as long as they are doing well. I hope the Leafs rebound tonight and pull out a win against a tough Rangers team in MSG.
Kadri was the AHL player of the month for November so he is at least able to dominate at that level. With the right opportunity I believe he can be a very productive NHL player. Schenn is a physical beast with his hits and blocks shots so that is what we should expect from him. He can also make plays though and get points if used in that role on the PP but the Leafs don't need to do that with him.
Cody Franson is the player the Leafs are messing up with the most. He was a top 4 D on Nashville last year which was one of the best defensive teams in the league. He is young and puts up points on the PP. He is hockey smart and very talented. I got to watch him play in Vancouver with the WHL Giants and I knew he'd be a stud NHL D-man. The Leafs are ruining him which is sad as I was so excited when they traded for him. If they end up flipping him they are make a major mistake.
