that is whining , you say detroit wanting every one to bow to em, and I proved the point that them and Columbus have the most travel so its not making everyone bow to em as you would like to believe, its the fact those 2 travel way more than anyone else. Sounds to me your just looking for a reason to bash detroit.

Detroit is actually my favourite of the Orig. 6, with the Habs coming in a close second, so no, I'm not bashing Detroit. I just don't see why so many Detroit supporters think they have the ultimate in problems and the league needs to fix it for them? Columbus is farther east, yet Detroit figures they have more right to be in the Eastern Conference. Explain that to me, because it makes no sense...unless Detroit thinks they deserve it more because their club is older.
You proved that Columbus and Detroit travel more, very good.
So why does Detroit PUBLICLY whine and complain and Columbus doesn't? Sure they've mentioned it, but not to the "The league must do as we say!" fit-throwing that has come out of Detroit for years.
The only real whining on this issue mostly comes from the Motor City.

i think you just hear about detroit more because they have (more) fans.
cards, winnipeg has the worst travel schedule, bottom line is, more than one team have bad schedules, but does itmatter that much?
unless they make huge conferences, there has to be a couple teams with large travel miles.

I did a travel assessment on here about 2 years ago. Took an entire week to out it together.
This was based on the 2009-09 Schedule.
Teams with the most travelled miles in the West:
Detroit, LA, Vancouver, Columbus.
Teams with the most travel miles in the East:
Florida Panthers oddly alone - shockingly almost double to the 2 teams with the least travel miles (which happen to be Bettman's bum-boys, the Pens and the Rags.
It was glaring. The Pens also have played the least back to back road-games or on the road and directly home two consecutive nights than any NHL club in the past 4 seasons. The Pens also get the most rest between games than any other club in the NHL.
How bout them apples?

It's possible, but does that really matter? Here we have a team who is not the easternmost team in the West, yet for some reason feels they should be the ones to move to the East. If Detroit went East and Columbus stayed West it would actuall overlap the conferences, which is stupid.
A full league playoffs actually is good for the Wings, and a few other teams, but horrendous for anyone along either coast, especially the west coast. It makes sense that a more central team like Detroit would want a full league playoff while teams along the edges would rather have divisional/conference playoffs.
I just don't get why so many people think everything needs to change to make things better for 1 team. It's pretty selfish and shows no respect for the actual sport, only the one team.

Wow...Tee-ing off on re-allignment. If Detroit or Columbus were to be an either/or situation, I think Columbus should get the swap to the East...they need the most help in terms of fan base and getting games when fans can watch will help build that...honestly, i still think contracting 2 teams would help the most, but that is a topic for another discussion.

I lived in Wpg. when the Jets were moved. Bettman did his level best to get them out of town as quickly as possible. He will not admit to anything at this point though.
Ignoring a man from Hamilton that had billions to spend, convincing all and sundry that Hockey in the desert would fly simply because the Great One was getting involved, ad nauseum...... This man would do anything to admit that he was wrong, in spite of still not being able to wipe all the Jets egg off his dwarf face.
He has taken the David Stern approach to every NHL situation, and not treated the NHL like it is a separate sport or a better one. Somebody should tell him that he is the Commish, and not Stern's errand boy anymore. He ignores tradition, and listens to nobody.

Given the 4 way tie of 3 votes to each option at this poin, it makes me wonder how on earth the BOG are going to get 20 solid votes for agreement on realignment...interesting to see what is agreed upon, if anything.

Whatever the agreement, hopefully most rival's will stay intact, But some new ones could be born, As a Wings fan , I miss the days when Toronto was in our division, now we rarely see em. But of all the rival's I miss the Av's from the mid-late 90's that all began with Claude Lemieux's hit on kris Draper, which just shows that playoffs alone can breed good rival's. 4 way tie in votes. lol, I can see voting for any except number 2, all the teams in the west would have tons of travel no matter what team you select, not sure how that managed to get the same amount of votes as all the others.
