I don't know a lot about Spacek, but this could be an awesome move for Montreal if Kaberle gets his groove back.
As a Leafs fan, this will be very weird seeing Kabs in a Habs uniform...likely even more than the Bruins uniform.

Spacek is a UFA at end of season, Habs pick up $12 million over next three years...... #firegauthier is trending on twitter, this move makes no sense at all.

Desperate measures?
I agree this makes ne sense, we are stuck with another big contract.
Gauthier won't last long, and i hope Martin either.

It's all in Kaberle's hands. If he continues to play how he has in Boston and Carolina, then the poor guy is going to get crucified in Montreal, and maybe rightfully so. If he can pick up his step and get some of his more confident offensive game back, then I think his contract will quickly be overlooked by Habs fans who will be too busy appreciating his classy character and smooth passing. His hands are pretty sweet too, and he used to be a great puck carrier up the middle, which, as you know, is a risky thing to do.
What an awkward rant. Do I even make sense? :P

Kaberle is hardly aging. His rookie year was 99-00.
