    Trading with scotch tape

Curious what you guys think about this.

It seems whenever I receive cards in the mail, they have scotch (transparent) tape on the packaging somewhere. Either toploaders are taped together, or there is tape over the toploader where the card is inserted.

I hate this! And I dont use the word hate often. I have to be so careful as to not damage cards trying to unpack them. What if I want to remove my card from the toploader? Is this really necessary? If you feel the need to use tape, can you not use masking or painters tape? Personally, I dont use any and have never had a complaint of a card coming out of a toploader.

This just bugs the crap outta me. Tired of my toploaders sticking together etc...

Done ranting. What do you guys think?

I'm with you on this one. I use top loaders and fold one edge of masking tape, then tape over it, so it is easily removed and the top loader isn't damaged either. Also ship in plastic bag (team bag) whenever possible.
So I'm with rmadams....please stop using scotch tape!

    Thanks, James

I don't want my card to slide around, so that's what I do when I don't have team bags...if I have bags, I just tape the bag shut. I've had a few slide out, so it's just worth the price of a single toploader to make sure my card gets there safely.

No problem but why not use masking tape. It's easy to peel and there is no residue.

I send my cards in a penny sleeve, toploader and then in a teambag, sometimes with the white cardboard pieces you get card packs as dummies to fool pack searchers to reinforce the package. No messy tape, cards get there safely, no problems.

I always use team bags but if I get taped up top loaders I put them in a pile and use them on cards I send out if i can. A lot of people should just use painters tape that's works the best. I also think actual scotch tape the frosted kind of tape not the clear isn't bad the clear tape leaves sticky residue . But I guess if the trader only has tape to use I would like them to use itsted of having the card slide out and damage it.

I don't always have masking tape handy, while I do Scotch tape, especially around Christmas. Also, to insure that the card doesn't get tape, I put the open end of the penny sleeve in the closed end of the card. That way the penny takes the tape residue rather than the card.

I don't always do it, just occasionally. The one thing I really don't like is when people use it on a magnetic. Ruins a $2 case...

I always use a VERY small amount of scotch tape on the top of the loaders, never had an issue with it or anyone saying not to, didnt think it was a big deal.

I do use scotch tape to tape over only certain times [depending on the size of he card(s)]. But the scotch tape I use is the one that doesn leave residue and I always fold a flap for easy take off.

I dont mind scotch tape but sometimes the tape being used is super strong and it really annoys me that there is tape on a toploader that I cant remove without having to hurt myself.

Yes, taped toploaders are annoying but I would rather have to deal with that than get a card that slid out of the toploader and ended up damaged. I always use team bags personally, much easier.
