Alternatives To Using MLB Balls
Like most of you, I have a budget. Money is tight and I'm looking for cheaper alternatives than spending 18.00- 20.00 for an official Major League baseball.
During my haunts, I found at Modells and Sports Authority, Rawlings RS100hsnf balls and Rawlings OLB3 balls. I was wondering if anyone uses these for TTM's.
I'd rather pay 7.99 for a ball that I am sending to a Tim Foli than spend 18.00. If these balls don't fade or bleed, I would pick them up and use them for the non-star players for my Yankees ball PC. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Mike

Like most people have come to find out, ROMLB's are really the only way to go. There are your cheap alternatives, but there's a reason people really only use ROMLBs; because they're the only ones that don't bleed, fade, etc. It's a shame they don't make the Trump balls anymore.
Where are you paying $18 a ball at? Even at my local Targets, Dick's, etc. I can get ROMLBs with cubes for about $15 after tax. Buying in surplus is another way to cheapen the cost...

Trump Signature baseballs are great IF you can find them. I bought a case...I don't remember how much I paid but it was a heckuva lot cheaper than ROMLB's.
Also, my wife bought a case of ROMLB's from Sports Authority a couple of years ago and negotiated with the manager to get 15% off. Haggle...it can't hurt and in the end will save you money.I collect NY Yankees, NY Giants, NY Rangers, NY Knicks, and NJ Nets. I am willing to trade. PM me if you have any cards signed by players from these teams.
Working on collecting all living New York Giants (football) and New York Yankees. The question is which team drives me nuts first!!!

Yeah I only have a few Trump baseballs left as well! :( I tried talking with their customer support at Anoconda and they said there just was not enough interest in them? Seriously I wish everyone would drop them an email asking for them!

Most popular topic in ttming baseballs... and the answer is always the same. ROM/N/ALNB are king. Trump is the only alternative worth considering otherwise you'll just be wasting money. Better to have 1 signed ROMLB than 3 signed OLB3, ROLB1, etc.

I use Ripken League balls as an alternative. I believe they are made of real leather and you can buy 2 for $8 at Modells or Dick's. I've had signed Ripken League balls for a few years now and they look like when I first got them signed.

Do you have pictures? I'd like to see what they look like, both the ball and the signatures after a few years.
