Gonna have to disagree here. Everyone was complaining about this many releases. Redemptions don't cause delays at all. They are in there to get the product out faster. Players have been lazy signers IMO this year. Also if you want the redemption players gone, say goodbye to Crosby and RNH autos. Along with that, you may find the autos useless but someone wants it somewheres. This is only about the timing for collectors. Pretty sure they could have it out if they wanted to by today.

Been many releases yes, but the most exciting ones be available until *after* the Cup final, that is just sick. Do you mean it's the big stars that don't do their job and don't sign? Skip them then. Most of us never pull them anyway. They don't have to be in each and every single product all the time, in Contenders and SPa yes cause those two are centered around autos and rookie autos but there are other products that are not, so why not just skip those who are poor at signing.

Why do collectors insist on blaming the players for signing cards? The Players are not the ones making a business and a profit out of getting the cards signed, the card companies are.
Until the card companies stop shipping out cards to players in the mail in hopes of quickly returned action, then this problem will always be paramount.
If the card companies put a couple employees on the street and spend some money and hustling and getting a person to the players and allotting time to get this done, then prepare for long delays and complaints.

You know, I never thought of that as a solution, but it's kind of a mind numbingly simple one. Very, very good point. Obviously it costs money and unfortunately that cost would be put onto our costs as collectors, but UD or Panini would become an instant clear cut favorite if they did this and all but eliminated redemptions.

There are many sloppy players who falls behind returning cards or signing them so they are part of the problem also.

So, reduce the number of autographs, quickly solve part of the problem. Too many of them, let some products focus on autos, but not in each and every product, all the time.

I would love to see a product that is low numbered, well designed, insert driven and throw in nice rookies as well rather than depending on jersey/patch cards and autographs. $85 to $95 a box. Throw in 4 to 5 parallel cards, 4 to 5 insert cards, and 4 to 5 rookies in a box. I'd be all over that.

Further to Linda's point above...
It's all about managing your assets and prioritizing.
If you have 600 sticker signatures of P.K. Subban obtained at the rookie photoshoot autograph session, it's probably best to save at least 500 of them for SPx. If you use too many of them to get that little extra jolt into Artifacts' AutoFacts, Black Diamond's Gemography, O-Pee-Chee's Signatures, and Upper Deck Series 1's Signatures....you're gonna have a bad time. I don't know if P.K. had to sign two batches of SP Authentic RC's (remember, he was at the 2009 rookie event, but didn't debut until after the deadline for that year) but between all the demands on him in Montreal and the daily autograph hounds at the practice facility, etc., it's no wonder that just about all his auto'd RC's (from both companies) were redemptions last year. Dude just had a ton on his plate.
I know that we all gripe and moan about the C- and D-level autographs in some checklists, and in those instances, why not just do away with a set completely instead of having a big pile of dollar bin autos and 2-3 highly desirable autos that are SSP'd and fall 1 per billion packs?
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Yes exactly, well said.
Oh and Tivo, I'm so onto that, that's what I've wanted a long time now. If they just inserted enough shortprinted rookies, I mean really rare ones, it would still create enoigh buzz to have a broader sell point. I'd love to see Topps Gold Label style again, with a few added things.Last edited by razzamaztaz; 05-30-2012 at 12:25 PM.
