    grading

i was wondering when is it a good idea to get a card graded. of course, i know the card should be in great condition, but besides that, what are some of factors I should consider before sending my card off to be graded. Also, what's the mininum book value that cards should have in order to have them graded. For example, if I have a card that is valued at $10, is it even worth it to grade it to sell it in the future.
    Thanks

Well, there are a few factors that I take into account before I decide to send cards off.

    1. Do I want to preserve the card? If you read in the most current Beckett, a Katrina victim lost his whole card collection...with the exception of the ones that were graded. Those were completely fine and after wiping the mud off were just like new. I have slabbed several 'sentimental' cards that weren't worth all that much and a few that weren't in all that great condition just for preservation purposes.

    2. Do I want to sell this card? I have slabbed cards with the sole purpose of selling and have made good returns on a few of them by doing so.

    3. Do I want to keep this card after it is slabbed? If you have players that you love and good samples of their cards and don't mind forking out $8 a pop to get them slabbed, go for it. I have slabbed Omar Vizquel and Mark Grace RC's just because I loved those players growing up.

    Sup to you...
