I've seen one those Marios sell at $20.00-$25.00 on eBay, nobody would pay Book for this.

They are harder than Hen's Teeth to find. I got my Yzerman Gold EA in trade after finding NONE on eBay for close to 6 years.

The one I saw sell on eBay sold in about 2007, I have not noticed another on eBay, but then again I haven't been looking all that closely.

Rest assured, one very nice Parallel SP.

I'd like to see a confirmed parallel if anyone has one, i.e. a gold and a regular. I'm not terribly familiar with the set, and I must say, my interest is piqued. I spent a little time on Google and I was able to find another #2 (in addition to the recent eBay sale). Both mention it being 'Gold'. That's 3 Golds to 0 Regular Lemieux's which seems odd if the parallel was tougher. He was the cover athlete that year, so they may have pumped more 'Gold' into the game. And, God forbid the suggestion, but I believe 'The Book' has been wrong before...

This 9-card set was inserted one-card-per-game in EA Sports' NHL 2002 video game and was produced by Upper Deck. A Gold parallel was also produced and inserted randomly. An autographed Mario Lemieux card has also been rumored to exist, but no verification of that has been made.

sounds like good news...thanks again for all of your help again man. I'm leaning towards trading it, I just wish I could find some other confirmed sales or trades (heck even the insert ratio would be helpful lol) so i know a fair value for both parties :/
Please check my inventory before my photobucket!!! It's more up to date!!!

Trade Value is Book Value - $75.00. I wouldn't go a penny less if I were you.

Sure, it won't sell for anywhere near that, but why cheapen what is a very great card.

These cards are scarce, the reason? The few out there are in collections

Centrehice - can you scan the gold yzerman you have? I've been looking for one and have not come across it yet. I have the bronze version, but the gold has been on my wantlist since those came out. Thanks!

    Greg:

I have to find it first. I'm old and have to many cards in too many places. I think I still have it amongst the other 2,000 odd Yzermans.

It is exactly like the Mario, just a different name and photo. Everything else is identical.

I know this is a rather old thread, but I was wondering if anyone had new information on this set. I'm still trying to find a print run or any other information as to the rarity on this. I have not seen one on eBay since posting this (not that I've checked every day). Hopefully you don't mind me bringing this up to see if any other newer Mario collectors know anything.

I recognized that card right away from the game, but I didn't know it was actually printed. I know it was a gimmick in the game itself to buy virtual packs and trying to complete the set in order to unlock things in the game. There were way more than 9 of the virtual cards, that is for sure. I have this game for PC, PS2 and Xbox, all US versions but have never seen the cards.

I found one ebay listing for the complete PC version that comes with the bronze Lehtinen:

Hmm, so the bronze cards do exist then. The plot thickens. Thanks for the find
