Panini Redemptions
Hi all,
Wanted to ask some questions regarding Panini's redemption process. I opened an account with them online and put my first redemption in (Certified Freshman Signatures Adam Larsson) on January 26, 2012. Since then I've put in 3 others, one from last year's Dominion (Pen Pals Neely-Lindros) and a couple others from this year which most likely aren't ready.
Now, the Dominion Pen Pals I know is live as there are copies for sale on eBay. What I wanted to know is, does Panini even bother to reply to say they've received it? Do they update the status to Live, and then to Shipped? What are the statuses?
I've never had ANY communication back from them whatsoever after the initial submission, so I don't even know if they are even awake over there. Seems like they could inform their users a bit better as to how the system works, but in any case if they can't, I'm hoping someone here can.
Thanks in advance,
Darryl

They do update the status when the card has shipped from their offices. It will move from your Open Requests folder over to the Closed Requests. You'll also get an email from them.
They're doing all they can to get the actual redemptions fulfilled, and there's only so many man-hours available in the day, which is why they're not necessarily up to speed on the communication side.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Ah ok.. it just seems weird they'd leave people in the dark. I've only got 4 redemptions outstanding, but I have an RNH Draft Positions Signatures I'm thinking of redeeming but don't know if I want to wait a year for it to 'possibly' arrive.
Also do they pay any attention to the 4/8 month thing? On one redemption I selected 4 months thinking they'd process it faster (naive I know) but I really want the card Lemieux-Ovechkin Dual Back to the Future Sigs... would hate to see them just send me something else.

They pay no attention to the 4/8 month option. You can let it lapse and if you aren't proactive, they won't do a thing in the world for you.
I am actually doing an experiment now with Panini. Redeemed a 2010 Contenders Auto that has been live for a long time now. Not going to touch it, not going to contact Panini, just going to see how long it actually takes them to do something on their own. They are paid for a reason. I am at just over 2 months now since I redeemed it and not a thing has happened.

Wow.. Dec 2010... That's impressive.
The only one I have that's live (that I've found) is the Neely-Lindros Dominion Pen Pals. That's be sitting there for just a month (March 9th). The others I don't believe are live.
11-12 Certified Freshman Sigs - Larsson
11-12 Limited Back to the Future Duals Sigs - Lemieux / Ovechkin
11-12 CR Ice Kings Signatures - Crosby
I might redeem the RNH though.
This was the first year I've tried Panini (didn't buy any last year, even the Dominion I bought this year)... not the biggest fan value-wise, and the redemptions are even more of a kick.

I'll be at 18 months soon for a redemption of a guy that has signed in several other products since (sticker and hard signed). Going on 10 months since I asked (by phone and on the site) for a replacement
So I could have had 2 kids before this was filled (and counting).... awesome customer service there.
My advice, unless it is pc and you want it hand delivered by Jimmy Hoffa..... sell all Panini redemptions asap

My experience has been for about 5-6 cards. All of my cards had been live for a period of months when I finally called to inquire as to their status. This was the only way I feel I was able to receive the cards. As others have said, if I waited on them to fulfill the redemptions, I'd still be waiting. To their credit, after speaking with them the cards arrived within 2 days.

The 4/8 month thing is something for you as a collector to give yourself the option for how long you will give them before you make the request for replacement. Sometimes, as we all know, players may not return their autos for longer than that timeframe - the window gives you the option to keep waiting it out or to request the replacement. If it's a PC thing you're waiting for, the natural inclination is to hold out hope that eventually your player will return it, but if you give up hope or if it's for something you care less about, you can contact them to get something suitable in return.
I think a lot of people interpret the thing as "it's been 8 months, why hasn't Panini called me right at 12pm on the 8 month plus 1 day anniversary so that I can get my card?"

I have yet to purchase anything Panini, but do they not notify you like Topps does when the 2-4 month?? window of redemption is up? When Topps cannot fulfill a redemption you get a notification stating you can wait longer or request a replacement. Seems logical.
