So you're basically saying "They're right because you're idiots on a message board"?
It's great to finally lower the boom, but the problem is inconsistency. This is just as wildly inconsistent as anything else they've done.
And may I remind you that you are on a message board as well. Taking the opposing view doesn't make you any better than anyone else.

Not saying that at all. I am simply trying to bring to your attention the fact that it is very hard to say what "should" happen without being directly involved.
We are not privied to alot of the info that the people who make these decisions are (like for instance, how Torres explained himself in his disciplinary meeting).
Torres has 3 suspensions in the last 13 months alone, so it's difficult to argue consistancy when you are standing alone in such a nefarious category.
Would it be consistent if they suspended him the same amount of games as someone who had thrown this hit as a first offence?
What would THAT say about the league?
In hockey, as in life, your past history matters, no ifs, ands or buts about it.
Raffi Torres has a history of hurting people, and that gets him stiffer suspensions.
Really, like I said previously, in any other sport, 3 suspensions in 13 months for infractions that all caused injuries would not be tolerated and Torres would be playing in europe by now.
How would you do things differently to make things more consistent? Set up a pre-determined suspension term for different violations (i.e: leaving your feet= 2 games, late hit = 3 games, etc...)
What do you do with a guy who doesn't care and will make the same bad hit 3 times in a year? Do you just keep giving him the same penalty over and over? 3 games.... 3 more games...3 more games....
At what point do you need to send a STRONG message to the player and the rest of the league.
Up until this point, alot of people have been complaining about LAX suspensions, that they weren't tough enough. So maybe this is the leagues way of saying :
"We've had enough of this crap" and really trying to send a message (which, by the way, they couldn't have chosen a nicer guy to send that message with).
My point wasn't that we are all just "idiots on a message board" at all. My point is that unless we are in that room, we can't really fully understand how the decision making process works, or why the results turn out the way they do.

They're trying to make up for giving Weber nothing by giving Torres everything. That is wrong.
