It's pretty much explained in the article. They don't provide the sub-grades, the slab is thinner, the card doesn't have the additional sleeve protection. So it's an inferior product.

That, plus BCCG tends to trade higher. I've herd of 10s that are re-graded as low as a BGS 8.

    This.
The only thing they're good for is vintage RCs that tend to get counterfeited. If you find one with a BCCG grade at least you know it's real.

Not to intrude, but how do you price a graded card? It obviously has to have a little more value you would think if it is a good grade.

you price a graded card many ways. by the subs, if it has an auto, is the auto a 10. certain cards are very condition sensitive such as black diamond and even the 10-11 spa with the red borders.

for example, a brayden schenn fwa ungraded usually sells for $25-30. i just sold a 9.5 gem mint bgs for $120. it just quadrupled the value because people know how there is common edge peeling and chipping on those cards. a taylor hall ungraded sells for $80-95, i recently sold a 9.5 for $230!

that's just one example of a set that is condition sensitive. 9.5's bgs are very hard to get, and 10's, well in probably 50 tries, i've never received a 10 grade.

i love bgs cards, and a lot of people do. some people couldn't care less though and just want the ungraded because they are merely collectors of a certain card and don't care about what condition it's in.

i think you paid a reasonable price. a bccg 10 might really be a 9 mint bgs. i only buy bgs. you could probably get bgs to convert it to their score. a 10 pristine bgs would sell for $350. that would be a very tough grade.

bccg and psa give higher scores out much more commonly it seems. i would never buy a psa graded card. junk in my opinion. seems like they give 10's for everything which is probably an 8.5 or 9 at best for bgs.

plus bgs has the nice sub grades and thicker case like the other person said.

but for $100, a 10 bccg grade, i think you did fine. i would personally have bgs convert that and re slab it with their grade and case with subs. if you were to get a 9.5 even, you could get more money for it.
