    $4.50 usps fcm s/h !?!

Man, I cannot believe I am starting to see a lot of listings with high $3.95+ through $4.50 shipping and handling charges. I recently started doing USPS Click N Ship and I pay on average $1.64 for a single and up to 3 cards on average. I don't get certain sellers. I have been charging $3.00 (but I paid roughly $2.80, with delivery confirmation per card when I set that price, now I will be lowering it)
Unfortunately, I also admit I probably may be beating a dead horse on the "General Sports Card Talk", it seems the days to buy a decent card at a reasonable price are long gone.

I agree. Most of all the auctions I've seen or have bid on, the seller says that you save $$ on shipping for more of what you buy. Lately I purchased 4 separate cards from a seller and he/she said you save on shipping with more you buy. They were 4 insert cards, which I wouldn't mind it if they sent with no DC or tracking. Average shipping cost for 4 insert cards for me is around 1.15, maybe less. I ended up paying at the end 2.45 without shipping and seller said it would cost another .80 cents for tracking. $3.25 or so to ship 4 thin inserts. I know a 10 pack of bubble mailers is what, $4.35 (at least here where I'm at)? And it's $3.25 to ship? Sigh.

That's guys making a profit. You have to imagine most guys have their own scale and can ship thru paypal. For 3 ounces I pay $1.64 and that includes a DC #. And I don't sell on ebay I just use it to ship trades/sales on here. I just was sick of paying so much at the Post Office. Only way I go in there now is to ship internationally since Paypal doesn't offer the 1st class cheaper rates online.

You also have to figure do guys charge for shipping supplies in there price? I personally buy bubble mailers every so often, but reuse the ones I can that come in. Have a whole stack. But I'd imagine as a seller you'd want to send out new ones?

Do you guys mail inside something padded, or just a regular envelope? Haven't heard of packages costing around $1.00 in a long time...

If you do a PWE trade you can get away with a couple cards for around 85 cents in the US. I just worry about stuff that way. So I pack it well. Usually it ends up being 65 plus 20 cents for non machinable if it is thick and won't go thru the machine.

I know about PWE, I'm just wondering if the above posters are referring to costs for packages or for regular envelopes.

Oh definitely plain envelopes at the post office I'd imagine. Because to print off paypal it is a larger label and that won't fit on a regular envelope. Unless you print it some other source. I know minimum $1.64 on Paypal for a single card.

I've sent single cards in a toploader wrapped in a piece of paper in a PWE for around $1

Yeah, for me PWE only takes one stamp for a single card packaged like that.

I'm just saying it's weird for people to say they wouldn't mind the seller shipping without DC/tracking on a sale. Which is a bit misguided, because DC and tracking is more to protect the seller in case something goes wrong. It only costs like $1.64 to ship up to 3 ounces (say $2 including supplies and packing materials/labels), but it's kind of erroneous to look at it in terms of how one can ship for less in an un-padded envelope.

This is not to justify overcharging, I'm saying certain comparisons that have been made are like apples and oranges.

yea, inside one of those padded mailers. I buy them in bulk and when I usually go to post office, they weigh it and it's usually 1.15 to 1.20 with out tracking. I don't know if I'm supposed to pay more?
