Round 3 : Official Series Discussion Thread NY Rangers vs.NJ Devils
Seems like neither of these teams are getting much love from the hockey community. This Series should be fun and exciting,I see it as a low scoring affair as both of the goalies are on top of their game,in years past the Devils have had the better defensive system, but this year the tables are turned.I'm going to predict The Rangers winning in 6 games as the Devils have never beaten the Rangers in the playoffs,so no time to start now.Oopsies on my part,I forgot the Devils swept the Rangers in the 2006 Quarterfinals, but the Rangers still have a nice playoff history against the Devils as they hold a 4-1 playoff series advantage.

We can only hope it's as entertaining as the 93/94 series and with the same outcome

This could be a seesaw battle between these two Atlantic Division teams. The Devils had to reinvent themselves a little since they no long have Stevens, Daneyko, or Niedermayer manning the blueline in front of Brodeur.

Rangers keep winning the last 11-15 minutes of all 3rd Periods when required. They lulled the Devs into a coma, then just stepped on the throttle.
Marty should have stopped both the Kreider and Girardi goals, as they were both a mile out. Not coming through with long shot saves will get the Devils swept.
Clarkson and Kovalchuk need to animal-up, as they allowed themselves to be pushed around on every 2nd shift.
Tippet and DeBoer need to wake their teams up, or this will be over fast.

I don't see this series ending quickly, but if the Devils can't shoot the puck without having it blocked before it ever reaches the net that will be a problem. The Rangers blocked more shots than Lundqvist had to save 26 to 21 I believe.I also found the uncalled penalty on Del Zotto for closing his hand on the puck turned momentum,as the Rangers scored on their trip up the ice,in the press conference DeBoer said he didn't even notice the play and that is not why the Devils lost.I beg to differ, that is exactly why the Devils lost,if that penalty is called,1 there is a play stoppage,2 The teams are back at even strength with the Devils eventually having a powerplay,3 The momentum swing was huge,Girardi's long goal seemed to deflate the Devils.I predicted the Rangers in 6,as I have in their previous 2 rounds, but this one is either going 6 or less,it will not be a 7 game series.
