It was pretty obvious he wanted to play in Canada. I've never seen a guy cut a list down to 4 Canadian cities and 1 American.

He wanted to stay close to home, hence Vancouver and Edmonton. I really wanted him to go to Van, but Edmonton was probably his best option. No matter what team he picked, though, there will be a learning curve attached and he won't really hit his potential for 2-3 years.

I xdon't know why he stiffed Anaheim like this, but knowing the type of person he is, he had a good reason. I think it's funny that the media and some teams are saying, "Who does he think he is?" when the reality is the teams and media made this whole thing into what it became. So my guess is he thinks he's whoever they keep telling him he is. The third most coveted Free Agent of this year (behind Parise, Suter)

I don't understand why Ottawa is on the list? My guess is it will be the Oilers. Surprised it isn't Vancouver but then again they wouldn't guarantee him playing time. Really wanted the Leafs to get him but looks like that won't be happening.

Why wouldn't Ottawa have been on his list? He wanted to play in Canada and Ottawa has a Jack Adams nominated coach in Paul MacLean as well as the Norris Winner Erik Karlsson. Ottawa was a playoff team last year and took the number 1 seed to 7 games.

I was actually surprised Toronto was on his list with defense being their strongest position. I would imagine Phaneuf, Gardiner, Liles, Komisarek, Gunnarsson and Franson would all be ahead of him.

Oilers get coveted young D-man in Schultz

Schultz felt that the Oilers provided the best opportunity to grow with a young group of talented players, including forward Taylor Hall who also met with Schultz to try and sway him to come to Edmonton.
