This is going to be a semi rant, about something that just happened to me.

I really can't believe the nerve of some people... I have a card listed on eBay at a $X + 15.99 shipping (because it's listed over $50) and someone offers me $20 for the card... so I countered at $49.99 (assuming that they'd understand that my shipping charges would drop to $2.99).

I get the following message from the prospective buyer:

"How do you want 49.99 plus your incredibly ™™™™ty cost of shipping? One just for 31.00"

So.. firstly you insult me (btw shipping with insurance to the US is $22-24, I eat 6-8), and then go on to mention how you were lowballing me with the original $20 offer... Right... makes me want to sell it to you!

The card is a Landeskog Inked Sweaters... I'm sure I'm a bit high in price at the moment, but the guy just won the Calder, and it _is_ my card. I'm a hobbyist, not a shop.

    Again, just a rant!

I don't think his offer was unfair, if in fact one did sell for $31 as the buyer claims. He was willing to pay $20 plus $15.99 shipping, so $35.99. Right on par with what the other one sold at. They obviously didn't realize the shipping would come down if the item was under $50.
I know how frustrating ebay is, trust me, but sometimes if you sit back and look at the situation you can see where people are coming from. A simple note when you counter offered $49.99 saying that shipping will now be $2.99 or whatever may have avoided their hostility towards you.

You say you pay 22-24 for tracked insured shipping to USA?? How are you sending it? If you print a shipping label from PayPal and send it expedited shipping it will only cost $12-$14 for things under $100. Then $1.50 more per hundred dollars of insurance. I have never had an issue shipping this way and the items get there in no more than 8 business days.

    Yes this!
That's actually a pretty good idea...

It is a good idea! I actually from time to time use it when I have a select group of high dollar items up on ebay. Of course I do them as auctions though, but my prices are what I figure the card is worth plus the shipping cost with tracking included. I make a mention in the auction description that it will be sent with tracking at no extra cost.

I take a bit of a hit with international shipping sometimes, but not too much for me to lose sleep over, but at the end of the day when I do make a sale this way, I don't have to worry about those speed payers that try to pay before being invoiced on a $75 or more card with basic shipping and no tracking!
