Crazy fact of the day (so far) - the New Jersey Devils are screwed if Brodeur leaves. Backup is 39yr old Hedberg, and the only goalies in their system are Frazee, Clermont, and Pielmeier. Hedberg is also a UFA. The Devils do not have an NHL-calibre goalie signed for next season.

If that were to happen then New Jersey could be giving up a lottery pick in what is suppose to be a very deep draft.

If the Leafs are smart, they will concentrate their efforts on Jonathan Bernier. That is my hope, anyhow. I'm also not getting my hopes up for any Suter or Parise... or Nash, or Bobby Ryan, or any other big name to the Leafs. I'd love for it to happen, which is why it won't. In other news, I'm sure they will go out and sign one of my most hated players in the league, Jordin Tootoo, to fill in one of their back-6 forward roles. *groan*

My calls as the start of free agency kicks off for my Leafs... hopefully Bernier over Luongo, unless Vancouver's asking price comes down. I think they'll go after Tootoo, and there's an outside chance they can trade for Bobby Ryan also.


To me, maybe the best sleeper out there in the free agency market is PA Parenteau! Congrats to the team who lands him. He'll probably get a modest contract and he'll put up as many points as guys making a few mill more than him.
