When Evander Kane signs...
It would not surprise me in the least if it was a sign and trade announcement. Yes, Winnipeg is hockey "mad" and rumors will fly, but in this case, it is Kane's demeanor that speaks volumes...and his silence about negotiations....The Jets have intelligent management. aka, Chipman, and if they know he wants out, they no doubt have put a gag order on him if he wants out so they don't lose too much trade leverage.
If they do sign him, I sure hope they don't give him a bonus for scoring 30 goals like the previous regime...he scored exactly that, 30, no doubt at the expense of developing his game into more than just a straight line run and gun to the net player...A better incentive for his development and for the Jets success would be a points bonus, so he could develop into a more well rounded player and include play making into his repertoire...only 27 assists for a point total of only 57. He should be at least in the 80 pt region to justify his desire for more than 6 mil per...

Seeing Kane play in Junior, he's a goalscorer, not a playmaker. He's a power forward, and there are very few of them that pot 30 goals a year, with another Giant, Lucic comes close to. He'll have a very similar deal as Lucic.

Well, true enough, but at only 20, one would hope he could expand his game...oddly enough, Wheeler took 25 games to get his first goal last year, than he turned into a monster, but surprisingly, more as a play maker. As for being a power forward, Lucic adds a far more physical and intimidating brute factor to his game...Kane, not so much. If Kane is simply a one dimensional goal scorer, he needs to put up at least 50 to be as valuable as he seems to think he is...I would trade him in a nano second for a cheaper and more well rounded Brad Marchand...JMHO...

Kane is a physical presence. You don't need to be the brute intimidator to be a power forward, Lucic may have that aspect, but Kane is really hard to push off the puck. He has great speed and strength, and is a rare commodity now. He'll develop the defensive game as he grows. He was also +11 on a team with a -21 goal differential, which is pretty good. If you have 11 more goals for than allowed outside of power play, I'll have you on my team any day!

I'd take Kane in a heartbeat. Love his game.

Fair enough, could be a case of the grass looks greener elsewhere...

I loved his game when he was a 15 year old playing in the Memorial Cup. He may not have played a lot but he was effective playing against the likes of James Neal.

I find Evander Kane (and Jamie Benn) to be the two most overrated young players in the league (Doughty the most overrated dman unless he keeps playing like he did in the playoffs and 2010) BUT I disagree with this post completely.
First of all, the rumours that he wants out are just that...rumours. They don't just surround him but other young Jets players like Burmi and it's BS. The reason is because Wpg is a market where these rumours will happen just like in Toronto. Us Canadian teams do this to our players, just a fact of life when gossip flies. I don't believe there's any truth to it, and if there was then there would be a 29 team lineup willing to trade for a power forward goal scorer who's young and signed long term.
2nd, I'd take Kane over Lucic for sure, his game is actually more complete if you watch him in terms of offense. Lucic no doubt is more physically intimidating but he's not the same oppurtunity creator and he's still inconsistent. He relies more on going to the net to get his goals which fluctuates for guys like that (Hornqvist and Holmstrom are a couple others who rely on goals around the net though slightly differently, Hornqvist relies on lose pucks for example) but there's more luck involved in this. Kane is faster and he has a better shot, once he gets even stronger then I believe he's gonna be even more dangerous at making things happen on the ice. Saying this makes it look like I'm criticizing Lucic but I'm not, I'd just rather have Kane as he's a better player (and I'd argue Lucic doesn't deserve the $6 M cap hit he just signed but it is buying more UFA yrs I believe).

I really don't think the Bruin's care how Lucic scores his goals...their top line takes care of the cute stuff...The Bruin's just realized after 2 of their elite but smaller players got concussed by cheap shots, the way to go was big, see the Kings, everyone is huge! Regardless of any of this, the real issue is I am old :/ Back in the day, if you didn't score 50, you were a plumber, now a selfish player like Kane scores 57 points and he is worth 6 million!! What does that make a talent like Giroux worth who out scored Kane with assists alone (65).
Anyway Kane is now signed for 6 years, hopefully he matures into an all round player that kind of $'s deserve! I just wonder how much they now have to pay Wheeler, a real power forward who literally took over games for the Jets last year!!
