Upper Deck Improving SPGU?
Don't hold me to it, but it looks like UD has responded to some of last years HEAVY SPGU criticism and have taken some steps towards improving it.
Most notable:
Lower Price point
Nicer Memorabilia

Looks pretty nice.

Completely changing it around, may be a great product. Although I'm not a big fan of flooding the market with even MORE shield and booklets, leave it to the high end products. I am looking forward to this product though

I would not hold my breath until it actually comes out. That and if there is no season this product will not have the big name rookies since they will all by in 2013-14 sets. Might be the reason for the lower price point

Saw that earlier on Facebook, like the Stanley Cup Finals Mem hits they should definitely be fun if you pull one.
last years was horribly hit or miss (way more miss) but lets hope they have made it better.
But more shields really? At this rate by 2017 UD will be making shields the case hit for Series 1 rather than an auto.

They should have done this years ago people have complained everyear how an average box is full of crap, regular jerseys and a sticker auto for box price is just plain robbery almost so this year looks a bit better, still wonder how much a box will cost and give average is question.

Eerily similar to Titanium:
5 cards per pack, 5 per box
1 guaranteed auto + 4 additional mem/auto cards
Rookies #'d to jersey number
Yup, sounds familiar.
It all depends on how it falls. I like it and I don't. I think they could've done something other than shields, and other than the rookies, but it will drive the value up. I'd be more enticed to buy it if they had jumbo patches over shields. I just... don't see it as a "shield" product. It's high end and all, but I'd rather have the stick and pad cards over shields. Even pucks would be cool or tags or brand logos, but they need to save shields...
I definitely won't be touching until someone takes the risk and I see 100 boxes lol

SPGU was one of my favourites... Oh boy, these guys really know how to watering all the market. That's unreal, what do we have left soon!? They do this only for a few dollars.
xx/10 shields next?

It'll still wind up being overpriced and junk imo. Last year ruined any SP product for me.

More bells and whistles is all well and good, but what I'd realllly love to see is attention to detail on the staple multiplayer patch cards - almost every quad/fives/sixes/sevens/eights patches card has at least one if not multiple single-colour swatch. These are all single-digit serial-numbered cards, is it too much to ask that they put their nicer swatches in these cards?
