We'll obviously need some more details but the key thing for the players' side was that there's no salary rollback. It just means that teams are going to have to scramble to get under whatever the new salary cap would work out to be. It was going to be $70.2M with a 57% player share, that will obviously drop.
Will we see buyouts?
What will free agency look like?
What about contract term limits?
Many questions remain, but this is what the NHL has wanted all along. They're just getting there now without the rollback clause.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Should be 50/50 forever, that's what real partners do.
If they can agree to a 50/50, sign the darn agreement and make it 10 years and let's cut out this nonsense once and for all.

Fehr seemed much more optimistic than in previous offer discussions. He didn't go into any specifics on the offer nor did he shoot down anything. This is generally a positive sign.
Let's hope we can go somewhere.

Please get it done and save a full 82 game season! If they do that the players won't lose any money. The league will need to have some form of buyout option or salary cap hit transfer option so that teams can get below the cap with being crippled if there is no salary rollback. Also 50/50 works. It is just all the other minor details which would then have to be agreed upon.
Apparently the NHLPA offered the 50/50 first if everything else related to player contracts was left unchanged and no rollback which the NHL was not willing to accept.
