"All the polls" most certainly do not.

    OK, fine...."MOST" polls do.

And BTW, I'm NOT talking about the popular vote which at the end of the night doesn't mean anything, I'm talking about the key swing states which multiple projections have them going for Obama (Ohio, Virginia, Nevada, Iowa, Wisconsin)

You're probably right, the huge conservative turnout in 2010 has no relevance in this election.

Dude, there's a HUGE difference between mid-term elections and general elections.

BTW, all the polls in 2010 were showing a big GOP victory, and guess what, that's what happened.

Polls are not 100% accurate, but they're pretty darn good.....the 2008 election polls were dead on.

If it was obvious, why were Silver's predictions so off in 2010?

Why are you fixated on a mid-term election year?

    There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE!

Not many people care compared to the general election.

BTW, how was he "so off".....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fivethi...term_elections

^According to this, his predictions were pretty solid!

"Of the 37 Senate seats contested in the November 2, 2010 elections, 36 were resolved by November 4, including very close outcomes in several states. Of these 36, the FiveThirtyEight model had correctly predicted the winner in 34."

Shocking that you didn't post the story that showed the same thing but when the person picked Romney it went to Obama.

    EDIT: It's in central PA.

Either way, I haven't heard about Romney votes being changed to Obama votes in PA.

In 2010 Silver said there was a 75% chance the GOP would not gain over 60 House seats. In reality they gained 67 seats. I don't know, is that a good prediction?

I want some thoughts about the mentality of voting for the "Lesser of two evils".

In about 2 hours I will be voting for Obama, not because I think he's the best candidate, but because I think Romney is a TERRIBLE, absolutely insufferable candidate.

So in actuality, I'm not necessarily voting for Obama, I'm voting AGAINST Romney.

I have spoken to some of my friends yesterday that tell me that that is precisely the reason why we will never get rid of the two party system.

However, my logic tells me the following:

If I vote for Jill Stein (Who I believe IS the best presidential candidate) I am taking a vote away from Obama who actually has a chance to win in order to vote for someone who has ZERO chance to win.

Therefore, my vote, inadvertently HELPS Romney, which I consider the ABSOLUTE WORST candidate.

So, can anyone help me in this dilemma?

I voted today for everyone on the ballot with the exception of the president. This is the first time since I was eligible to vote in 1976 and hopefully last time I'm confronted with the lesser of the two evils. Living in NY my vote for president would have no effect since NY is not a swing state. My decision was to vote for neither of the two evils. If there was a third party candidate who reflected many of my views I would have voted for her/him.

    ...Rick

EDIT: I wanted to add that my thinking probably would have been different if NY was a swing state. I disagree with one candidate on just about every issue as opposed to disagreeing with the other candidate on a couple of issues. Because of my strong beliefs on those issues I could not vote for the latter candidate.
