I bought a player lot from someone online, about 2200 cards. He placed them into a 3200 ct monster box...two full rows and another row about 75% full. The dude put zero padding in the box. This was one of the normal monster boxes that have about 3/4 of an inch extra from the card width so there was lots of room to slosh around. I lost about 50% of the cards. The guy did insure them, but wouldn't take responsibility for it. I ended up taking the low because the box had zero damage and the USPS just shipped it as normal. I didn't feel right trying to file a claim and have them pay for his stupidity. And even worse....the cards reaked of smoke. Not to bash smokers, but if you smoke and have cards, they just soak it up.
needless to say, the next time the guy wanted to sell me a lot, I told him I would take it if he sent first and once I got the lot, if there were damaged cards I would subtract it from his total. Oddly enough, he never responded.
I also have a $30 Jamal Lewis Longevity 2C Gud somewhere that I got from a fellow SCF member. It was sent in a white envelope and was beat to hell. Ironically, he was sending me that card as a payment for damaged cards in a prior player lot. Thecard was quite thick and he didn't topload it. I guess he didn't have one thick enough. You'd think people would learn that shipping is hell on cards if they aren't packed well enough, but he sure didn't.

I just got my first damaged card in the mail the other day. Our post office in our area sucks. This just adds to the other problems I've had with them. I'm not sure if I'll be able to find this card again at the price I paid. It's a good thing I paid for insurance but I'm still waiting to hear from the seller. The card was shipped as pictured in a bubble mailer. The bubble mailer had the same creases on it as the card did.

that sucks. I hate those semi-rigid holders. The seller should know better and I would state as much in the feedback you give him once you post it. That is, I'm assuming he just had it in that and nothing else.
I always put my singles in a top loader, then team bag is and put an extra top loader on either side within the team bag. If it's a super high dollar card, I may even sandwhich it between some extra cardboard after that.

I'm still waiting for this damaged card to be settled. The seller sent me an email last week saying he went to the post office and was going to have them send me the insurance money. I have yet to hear anything from them so I sent him an email yesterday asking what's going on. Isn't it odd he didn't refund me and have me send the card back to him or is this something some sellers do? Also does anyone have a clue how long it'll take to hear from the post office?

not sure how the insurance thing works. If the buyer pays for insurance, does the seller have to refund and then get his money back from USPS? I don`t even know who would be responsible to collect the insurance? I would assume the seller would be the one since he would be in possession of the little green insurance ticket even though the buyer had paid for the insurance. hmm?

I haven't had to go through the process either. I would think that through the USPS it would take quite a long time to actually get the refund. I'm sure they process a ton of claims as well as have to investigate them fairly extensively.
As a seller, I wouldn't want to refund the payment out of my pocket before I got the refund. However, if it was a small amount I probably would go ahead just to satisfy the buyer.
good luck,

who ever has the green slip gets paid, since they sent the package. be prepared to wait 2 months for a claim to go through!
